Podcast #39: Law of Attraction: Specifics Are Not Your Friend

When it comes to harnessing the power of the law of attraction, aren’t we supposed to get super-specific with what we want and then think about it all the time? I would say, no, no we’re not.

Listen in to hear why specifics usually hamper our creative power.

    1. Hey Summer
Sorry for the delayed response. This comment got overlooked by accident. I would say that what is good is different for different people. The actions themselves have no power, they are helpful in that they make us feel a certain way, make us focus in a certain way. So it could be anything from meditation to going hiking in a pretty natural setting. It could be watching a funny tv show or listening to relaxing music. It could be visualizing a scenario that is pleasing to you. See what your intuition guides you towards; be willing to listen to that voice if it is suggesting a certain action.

  1. Hi Kelli,

Thank you for sharing this information! Your posts always help me feel good.

I have a question relating to the post. So if I know I want to manifest a relationship with a specific person because they have the qualities I like and can see myself with them, is that getting too specific? I have a good feeling about it initially, but then when I heard this post it made me nervous that I was too specific so I started to kind of feel bad. I am open to other things as you mentioned, it is just harder to kind of let go and not focus on the specifics when it comes to manifesting a relationship with someone.

    1. Hi Bridget
It really isn’t a problem that you have a certain idea of the type of person you want–we all find different traits desirable and important. If it makes you feel good to focus on those specifics, then go for it. But know that if you get your vibe ‘right’ when it comes to a relationship, you will attract a great person to you. And this person may be a completely different type of person than you might have imagined yourself with. Now I don’t know the exact ‘specifications’ you are talking about, but often times our mind locks in on traits in people that can be ‘superficial’ ‘arbitrary’ or that are coming from a screwy energy–for example, wanting someone with a lot of money because we don’t think we are capable of creating our own prosperity or our mind deciding this person must have certain qualities or things because of some reason your mind has decided is important but is actually meaningless when it comes to a quality relationship and true compatibility.

When I started doing work on myself I met my husband soon after, and he had all the traits that were important to me, yet I spent no time focusing on those qualities–but I believe that everything we want and would be ideal for us gets ‘cataloged’ by way of what we like and don’t like, and our specific focus in that area really isn’t ‘necessary’ for the manifestation.
