For those of you who did not catch part 1 of my little tutorial on LOA, you can find it here. For those of you who did , I hope you found it helpful, and are excited to take in even more useful information.
There are a couple of things I would like to rehash a bit at the beginning of each of these posts because I feel it is vital for anyone just starting with all this, and because there is a good chance someone reading this has not read the previous post, and might not ever. They are issues that will easily move you away from anything to do with LOA, and that would be a real shame. They are issues I struggled with, and I would have given up, if I let myself get too consumed with them.
When you first learn about this concept, it sounds very appealing. After all, the idea that simply feeling good , and clearly setting intentions about what you want, is all you need to get said things sounds pretty darn good. Let’s face it, we are always interested in the path of least resistance, and getting things with as little effort as possible, are we not? This idea that we are responsible for our life experiences based on how we think, and what we believe, is very empowering and gives us a sense we have control over our lives.
But, inevitably, you will start to question all the shitty things that happen each and every day. What about kids who get cancer? What about people who get murdered? The list could go on and on. And like I said in my first post, I will not try and pretend I have, without a doubt, figured out the workings of the universe.
Having read a lot about attraction, there have been some very eloquent discussions about these types of questions, and I must say I was impressed with them, and they made a lot of sense to me. Do I still fully understand? No, not really. Anytime it comes to a deeper understanding of LOA, I will always and forever recommend the amazing blog of Melody Fletcher.
People confuse the idea of attracting something with somehow being ‘’punished,’’ and conclude this concept is completely ridiculous. They can’t wrap their heads around these matters, and then abandon any serious effort at giving this whole attraction thing the good old college try.
But, if you abandon it because you can’t get it to make sense to your logical mind, you are missing out on one of the most powerful tools for changing your life. I started this blog because my own journey of improving my life netted me such significant results; and I wanted to share some of the things I learned , because I think it will really help people make the same positive changes which I was, and still am, seeking.
And when I started really studying this concept, and did what I was told to do, my life completely changed. My experience is my ‘proof,’ and I thought it was important I talk about that experience even if I felt I couldn’t expertly explain every nuance of the subject, a subject that can be a bit controversial.
Don’t try so hard to understand; don’t give up on trying to use this concept to get the’ good’ stuff because it just doesn’t make sense in regards to the ‘bad’ stuff.
So, onto the next little tidbits….
Knowing What You Don’t Want is Not the Same as Knowing What You Do
For most of us, it would take very little effort to rattle off a list of the things we don’t like about our lives, or the things we don’t want to happen to us. Being negative is super-duper easy, because you never have to look very far to find something displeasing, or at least something you perceive as displeasing.
By stating what you don’t like or don’t want, within lies a pretty good assumption of what it is you do want and like, that’s for sure. But, from an energetic perspective, this is a very, very– million times very– different thing. What we focus on expands, and if you keep focusing on all the crap, guess what you will get more of? Yup, crap.
So, if you really want to make LOA work in your favor, it is crucial you shift your focus from all the things you don’t want, and don’t like, to their much more pleasant counterparts. A good exercise to help you accomplish this goal is to write down all the crap, and next to each little tidbit, write the thing that you would actually want. Then, start putting your attention on that side of the list.
You must get crystal clear about what it is you hope to attract into your life, or you will never see the change you desire. Vague desires won’t get you very far. Just wanting to be ‘happy’ is too broad. What do you think would make you truly happy? What is it exactly you want in your life? Who is it exactly you want to be?
When you picture your ideal life, what does it look like? You must paint this picture in great detail. Nothing fuzzy and out-of-focus. The Universe will respond to whatever you put out there, and it can’t give you what you want until you have defined exactly what it is. You need something specific on which to focus your good energy, and to form the base of your intentions.
Which brings me to my next point….a very, very important one.
Don’t Censor Your Desires Based on Your Current Circumstances
Boy, this is a biggie. So many people are not living the lives they want because they just don’t think it is possible based on how their lives have unfolded up until this point. They have a very limited view of themselves, and that of which they are capable, and can’t possibly see past their current state of affairs.
But, remember law of attraction states our outside reality is a reflection of everything that has been going on inside us. And up until this point, you have, for the most part, been completely unaware of what was going on inside you, and have been unknowingly influencing your reality in a really, really bad way. But, now you are starting to tune in. Then, there are of course, the very limiting beliefs you are fully aware of, but are now working on changing.
Now that you are studying this concept, and engaging in conscious creation, your whole internal world will be experiencing a huge shift, and this will be reflected in your physical experience. Because you are changing for the better, your life has no choice but to change along with you. You have a different, better energy, and it will bring you all different, better experiences.
Your life unfolded the way it did before because of beliefs you held and choices you made, not because you were not at the complete mercy of some outside force. When applying LOA principles, you are taking back control of your life, a control you had all along, but simply did not realize.
It is crucial you remember nothing in the past has any bearing whatsoever on what is possible from this point on. It doesn’t matter if you have been broke all your life, every last one of your relationships has been an utter disaster or every business venture you tried has failed; none of that matters now.
So, when setting your intentions, and making your list of the things you want to attract into your experience, do it with abandon; don’t modify your ‘wants’ based on what you think is possible given the nature of your life now. You are starting with a clean slate—nothing in the past matters.
So far, we have learned four very important things.
- No, you don’t have to feel good every millisecond and monitor every thought to see a shift.
- You must start feeling good now, even if you don’t really think you have reason to–because everything is happening now.
- Get clear on what you want, and stop putting so much attention on what you don’t.
- Nothing that is happening now, or has happened in the past matters one iota when creating a better future.
I am enjoying your very clear, concise, step by step guide to LOA. I am an avid reader of Melody Fletcher and love her, but get overwhelmed with all the information there. I appreciate your beginners guide basics with personal proof mixed in. Thanks!
Hi Amanda
Thanks so much for taking the time to comment, and I am so happy to hear you are finding the posts helpful. Yeah, she really packs a lot of information in. I always find myself re-reading certain posts to fully get the gist. There are several more to come, so I hope you check them out!
Kelli, great points once again. Feeling good now sets the manifesting in motion. Build a gratitude list, help people and raise your vibe to make the LOA work for you. Thanks for sharing….and what a handsome guy up top 😉
Thanks there sugar bear!
It is one of the hardest things to do because in the moment we are so focused on the lack, and we think we can only feel better until the outside changes, but it comes from within so that must change first.
Thanks for the awesome post. I consider myself an advanced beginner with LOA, and have been able to manifest some really great things into my life thus far, just from changing my thought process. Thanks again for sharing your words of wisdom.
Hey Penelope!
I am so glad you liked the post and that you have had good experiences with applying the principles. It really is amazing, and I still don’t fully understand it. But, I gave up trying to, and just went with it. It seems to be working so that is good enough for me. I feel like I will always be an ”advanced beginner!” Thanks for taking the time to comment.
Great post, Kelli. I enjoyed each and every word of it. I just started reading “The Secret” last night, for the second time around, and this is exactly in keeping with what I’ve read so far. It really is an eye opener to look at where you are in life at the moment, and to fully realize that your thoughts did indeed bring you here. It gives me great hope for my future! Ciao!
Hi Jeanne
Thanks so much..I am go glad you liked it! It is pretty amazing right? Reading this type of stuff takes us off auto-pilot and all of a sudden, why our life is the way it is now becomes crystal clear. Good luck on your journey–you seem to be on the right track for sure!
Phew! That was epic!
Those last four points make a helluva lot of sense now!
Am loving how your mind works!
