Podcast #68: Law of Attraction: You Can’t ‘Do’ Manifesting ‘Wrong’

One of the biggest stumbling blocks to applying a teaching like the law of attraction is carrying over our action-oriented approach to creating change. We obsess over whether we are manifesting ‘right.’ But you can’t get it ‘wrong.’

    1. Hi Tina
Thanks for your comment and glad you enjoyed the podcast. That is something we all struggle with I think so you are not alone in that!

  1. Hey Kelli is it possible that you have done all your bit like shifting your energy and releasing resistant from time to time and you are pretty confident that whatever you want is coming but there can be a void time. When I think about my desire I don’t feel any fear or doubt . I just think about it before going to bed and sometimes for very little time in a day. I don’t have any vision board or set affirmations but I just kind of feel that it’s just a matter of time now. But well sometimes I don’t understand why it’s taking time. Dont know why there is this void.

    1. Hi Resh
Ah, the void…that can happen after we really shift directions in our energy. I think discussing this would make for a great blog post. Stay tuned. But know this is a very normal thing that happens so don’t worry about it too much!

      1. Thank you very much for your reply ?. Yessss I will be there till the time your blog is :). I love reading your posts. They give great insights.

        1. Ah, the Void, exactly where I am now. Finding it very uncomfortable. Looking forward to reading your upcoming post about it, Kelli. And thanks for mentioning it Resh.

  2. Fantastic, as always, Kelli. 😀 It wasn’t anything new today, just a good reminder to stay on the course that I’m on! So many energetic shifts the past few months have literally transformed my life in more ways than I could possibly count. One of the way I’m frequently reminded of these shifts and their impact is when I receive some “unsettling news.” (Notice how I’m being careful of my language?? No coincidence, haha!) I’ve had a couple of those situations recently, even yesterday, and while I immediately felt a little stressed, I quickly said in my mind, “Pause.” So I paused, calmed, reflected. And you know what some of the next phrases that kept coming to my mind were, without *trying* to think of an affirmation?? “The universe SO has your back, Sarah!” And it popped into my mind multiple times because I believe it 110%. I even found myself smiling at times and saying it out loud. I don’t know all the details of how the said circumstance is going to play out, but I *do* know with great certainty that I am safe, I am protected by the universe, the universe has my back in a tremendous way, and I know the outcome will be amazingly positive and better than I can even imagine. That’s energy shifting right there, baby!!

I also adored your phrase, “your mind can be a real asshole sometimes.” LOL!! Yes, it can. 😀

Keep keepin’ on, Kelli and Ryan. Thank you!

    1. Hi Sarah
Thanks for your comment and I am glad you enjoyed the podcast. Your experience is a great example of what happens when we build more momentum behind the energies that serve us–we may still have those initial reactions of fear or whatever, but it gets easier to shift focus and perspective more quickly–that way of looking at things becomes more natural and isn’t something we have to work so consciously to cultivate. Love the energy you are transmitting here…could feel it while reading.

  3. I also want to share that I’ve found self-care to be incredibly effective in helping with these energy shifts, like you’ve talked about before and in this podcast. I’m know I’m not sharing anything that’s a new concept. It just makes sense to me from an energetic level why self-care and making the choice to do things that make me feel good is so crucial. I see it as it creating higher vibrations in me and sending out an energy that says, “I matter! I’m worthy! I have value!” (This, in addition to the natural higher vibes that result from just feeling good physically, mentally and emotionally.)

Case in point: This past week, I had a little lightbulb moment where I realized I was ready to take the plunge and start myself and my children on juice plus. I had been interested for a while, thru my good friend, but hesitated b/c I’m already on some high quality supplements. But I’m also coming out of years of health problems that came to climax last year. I was very, very sick. I’m now a whole lot better but I know my nutrition is not optimal and my children are both very selective eaters. It just hit me that, “Hey, any additional support I can give my body (and my kids’ bodies) can only be positive!” It felt SO GOOD to make a decision where I was putting myself and my needs first! I could literally feel my energy shifting just in making that choice. (And after only a few days, I can tell a noticeable difference since starting the supplements! This only confirmed it was the right choice for me.)

I also loved your energy analogy of driving a car and how if you steer right, the car automatically is going to go right. I love analogies and this was helpful.

    1. Hi Sarah
Self-care is crucial and your explanation of why is perfect and I agree completely. Sounds like you went with your gut and it turned out well for you–that makes it easier to keep making decisions from that space because now we have some ‘proof’ it is a valid way of operating. And you are setting a great example for your kids too.

  4. Hey Kelli,
I love listening to your podcasts, they are really helpful. You explain the LOA very well.
I was wondering if you have any tips on what to do when you can’t find a job and need money. Even after applying to a plethora of jobs, including many with minimum wage salaries and few requirements, I haven’t been hired for any. I need the money to record and release my music. I’m freaking out because I had set this goal for the end of the year, but now I fear I won’t be able to because I can’t afford the gear I need. I also need the money to move too. There are other ways of receiving it that I have considered, but if I choose any of those paths, it’s likely the people in my life (including family) will disown me. I feel very stuck and full of anxiety, like nothing I’m doing is working.

    1. Hi Lilac
Sorry for the delayed response. The first thing I would suggest is not worrying about meeting some specific deadline–by the end of the year is an arbitrary marker. If you don’t meet it, what does that mean? Understandably the fear of not having money is driving your search for work but that energy will make it problematic to manifest employment, at least employment that is more ideal for you. As for the family issues, I can only comment generally as I don’t know the situation and what lines of work you are considering but generally you must do what feels right to you even if others don’t agree–their views of ‘right ‘and ‘wrong’ are opinions and nothing more. And ‘nothing I’m doing is working’ means you are still really trying to make things happen with action, but if the energy behind the actions isn’t sorted out, you’ll keep spinning your wheels. You need to go within, see what is happening there and work on that–from there, the most effective actions will reveal themselves or you will find the situation gets resolved without any action on your part–for example, meeting someone randomly who sets you up with a job.

      1. Hey Kelli,
Thank you for your reply. I’ve become so frustrated with this job search, I feel that I need to back off a bit. And I also had worked myself into such a deep hole of stress with the end of the year deadline, so I’ve decided to extend it and I feel lighter. The thing I don’t understand is that so many people say you need to set goals and have deadlines, otherwise you won’t get anything done and won’t be successful. It’s this programming that worries me…I’m afraid that if I’m not more rigid and firm with myself, I will slack off and delay receiving the things I want. I feel like a lot of what you and other aligned LOA teachers teach really goes against conventional wisdom and what many experts say. Not to say that this is a bad thing, I just struggle believing that achieving goals and being successful can be easy and feel good.

        1. Hi Lilac
Your confusion is understandable. You don’t necessarily have to abandon goal setting and the like…it is just always about remembering the energy behind actions we take. I actually think this issue would make a great blog post and I can expand on it more there. Stay tuned. I will do that soon.

  5. I Understand loa but my mind always focus on wrong, make me nagative,i feel bad, then i try to make myself feel good again i stuck.

    1. Hi Himanshu
The most important thing to remember right now is your ‘negative’ feelings aren’t wrong or bad. They are just messengers showing you the various beliefs and perspectives they hold. Rather than feeling pressure to ‘fix’ them, let yourself feel them and just work on starting where you are–trying to make drastic leaps in your energy and perspective may work for a bit, but it usually won’t last because there really isn’t any momentum there and your mind is still used to living outside in and barring a reason to keep feeling better–such as manifesting something it likes–it will bring you back to the old way of thinking and feeling.
