Law of Attraction: What It Really Means to Act ‘As If’

I’ve been studying the law of attraction for a while and the biggest drawback I have, which I’m sure many people do is the “Act as if” part of it, in a brain that’s been conditioned to I’ll believe it when I see this act as if concept is the hardest to implement, sure I know they say visualise it and act as if what you want is already here but putting it into practice especially if visualising is not ones strongest points, so maybe you can give your view on it?

Great question here, and when thinking about how to answer it, I realized that over time, I began to think very differently about what acting ‘as if’ means.

I think this is one concept that can really pose challenges for people, and understandably so.

I have found many of the misconceptions, and teachings  about the law of attraction, can lead us down a road that will make this process of being more conscious in shaping your reality much more difficult than it has to be.

One of the biggest issues is the tendency to obsessively focus on the specific things we want, and feel pressure to feel all the feelings we think we need to feel to ‘get’ them.

We make happiness a means to an end, rather than the goal itself, doing everything we can with an eye towards manifesting what our mind wants.

So in this post, I want to talk about my view on acting ‘as if’ and some issues that contribute to our difficulty in feeling better now, regardless of our circumstances; and hopefully it will give you some insight into ‘how’ to shift your energy in a beneficial way.

It’s not going to be a list of suggestions on how to feel rich if you are poor ,feel like you have a relationship if you are single, or feel skinny if you’re not.

I imagine you have encountered plenty of that stuff, and while helpful to some degree most likely, didn’t quite help you overcome this hurdle.

Looking Beyond What Is, Not Denying It

When people are told to act ‘as if’ it can seem like you are being encouraged to deny your current reality, and just engage in a big old game of pretend. And as many people have found, this tends not to work too well.

You might have some moments here and there where you feel like you truly are living a new reality, but they tend to be short-lived, and not much momentum is able to be established.

Feeling ‘abundant’ when you are flat broke can be a bit of a stretch.

Feeling like you are already in a loving relationship when a crushing sense of loneliness seems to be a constant companion can seem near impossible.

Feeling like you are already inhabiting your dream body when you can barely stand to look in a mirror…um okay.

Feeling like you are in perfect health when your illness seems to impact every facet of your day-to-day life can seem like a tall order.

Because the fact is, your current reality is not reflecting these things back to you, and your mind is very insistent on not letting you forget that for even one second.

Yes, you have to have a shift in perspective on what is happening now. You have to be willing to concede something better is possible, even if you don’t have much evidence thus far and you can’t figure out ‘how’ these changes would come about.

You have to begin cultivating the energies and feelings that lie beneath the specific manifestations you desire because the energies come first and then the manifestations.

The key to being able to do this is a willingness to look BEYOND your current reality, knowing it can change. There has to be that willingness to concede that all the shitty things you believe now, all the damaging conclusions your mind has drawn about yourself and the way the world works, are maybe, just maybe, not true.

I have found in my own life, making this my primary strategy helped me tackle one of the biggest manifesting ‘cockblockers,’ which is having a huge amount of resistance to what is happening right now and trying to manifest from a space of resisting and hating it all.

Releasing resistance to my current circumstances, in my opinion anyway, seemed to be the real linchpin in improving my ability to receive, not trying to be super ‘high-vibing’ all the time, and pouring all my energy into trying to act ‘as if,’ thinking about what I wanted all the time,etc…

This willingness to look beyond what was happening now freed up a lot of energy and I was able to reach a better-feeling state more naturally, without engaging in any specific tool or technique to do so or ‘trying’ really hard.

Of course I still did stuff that resonated, like meditation, but it wasn’t something that took a lot of ‘effort.’

One of the reasons we have such difficulty getting into a high energy state, and acting ‘as if’ is because we are fighting against ‘lower’ energies, namely all the resistance we have to our current reality.

You are Never Lacking, No Matter the Circumstance

Understandably, most people are drawn to a teaching like the law of attraction specifically because there is something you don’t have now that you are hoping you can ‘attract’ into your experience.

Maybe it’s money, a boyfriend, a flatter stomach, better health or a new job. No matter what it is, totally fine to want it, and no reason not to have it.

The problem is however, our mind sees this lack in our circumstances as some sort of lack in ourselves. We have some deficiency that hasn’t allowed these things into our reality. We must not be smart enough or good enough to have it. Not having this thing says something about us that is very painful. We assign all sorts of meaning to the lack of this thing and it feels really shitty.

And this is why we get so fixated on manifesting this thing, and ‘try’ so hard to get it. We see it as some sort of answer to healing whatever we are dealing with now.

By getting it, whatever terrible thing I think about myself now is not true. If I get this thing, it means I’m not stupid, I’m not a failure, I’m not a joke, I’m not a loser, I’m not unworthy, I’m not unlovable, I’m not ugly, I’m not incapable.

Whatever shitty thing you think about yourself now isn’t true, plain and simple, no two ways about it.

You are perfect, whole and complete as you are now. No matter how lacking your current circumstances seem to be, you are not lacking in any way; and they say nothing about who you are as a person, your worthiness or what you are truly capable of.

Through the eyes of God, the Universe, Source, Infinite Mind or whatever your preferred term, you are wonderful as you are; you are deserving of the best life has to offer. You are not deficient in any way; there is nothing ‘wrong’ with you

When we can shift gears from manifesting from a space of feeling lack, not good enough and that we need certain things to be happy, to doing it basically for shits and giggles, and thinking we want this stuff to enhance our experience and it would be fun to have it, a whole new energy opens up, and with that, a whole new world must follow suit.

You might not get into that space every waking moment, but it can become more dominant than you probably think.

You Already Are Everything You Want

This kind of ties into my previous point about your circumstances, and their apparent lack, being no reflection on you as a person. It in no way means YOU are lacking in any way.

There is a lot of talk about changing energy, ‘raising’ our vibration and what have you, and the terminology can create the impression there is some sort of energy that is absent that you must cultivate, that you must build ‘from scratch.’

And this really isn’t accurate. There is a part of you that is vibrating at the highest of energies, that knows the truth of reality, that knows all the crappy things you think about yourself aren’t true, that all the crappy beliefs you believe aren’t true, that knows you are loved and supported, that knows no matter what has happened in the past, it has no bearing on what is possible moving forward. .

Our ‘mission’ therefore is to peel away at all the shit obscuring it-all the ‘stuff’ we picked up over our lifetime, courtesy of our mind’s false interpretations of our experience, our religion, the media, our parents, our culture…the list could go on and on.

Love, abundance and all the energies you crave are already there, just waiting to be tapped into more consistently. And yes, I’ll say it again for the millionth time: this is what you truly want–the feelings.

The more you can feel them, the more quickly your reality will begin to mirror them back to you in a variety of ways–maybe with the specific things your mind has cooked up, or maybe something totally different.

But no matter what form it takes, you will enjoy it and be happy.

So when you realize all these energies already exist within you, you realize it is just about being more conscious of tapping into them in a more general sense.

You realize you don’t have to ‘try’ and act ‘as if’ you are rich, skinny, married or whatever else you want to be.

You can certainly want those things, you can certainly manifest them. Taking some time to focus on imagining being in these circumstances can certainly be helpful.

But it’s probably a good thing to know that you don’t have to be so specific in your focus and energy.

When you are feeling love, and being love and showing that love,  there is no reason a romantic relationship would be excluded from the ways it gets mirrored back to you in your reality.

When you are feeling loved and supported by the Universe, knowing it can aid you in manifesting all the worldly ‘needs’ of a human, there is no reason money would be specifically excluded as a resource.

What’s Really Happening Right Now

When we start to understand what is really happening in our current reality, and why it is the way it is, it gets much easier to shift our energy in any circumstance.

What is happening now is in no way any indicator of what will happen moving forward. It means nothing as far as what you may want now. It says nothing about whether this thing is possible.

Your current reality is merely a reflection of past dominant energies playing out. That’s really it.

Once you start changing the energy, your experience must follow. That is how it works.

I know it can take some time for this idea to move from the realm of intellectual understanding and ‘sounds nice’ to a true ‘knowing.’ And even a slight willingness can get things moving in the right direction quite nicely.

When we really, truly remind ourselves of this, we can detach more easily from our current experience. We may still not be thrilled with it; we may still be harboring strong attachment to certain desired outcomes, but by and large, the emotional investment in all this ‘stuff’ dies down. We don’t get sucked in as strongly as we may have in the past.

Remembering our present moment is just a reflection of past energies can also help us tackle one of our most challenging obstacles, which is…

Breaking the Habit of Living Outside In

If I had to name the number one barrier to shifting energy, and creating a meaningful space for better stuff to start showing up, it would probably be this.

To say that letting our outside circumstances dictate how we feel does not mix well with conscious creation is an understatement if there ever was one.

And this is a pretty deeply ingrained habit. Most of us aren’t so stable in our energy, and so confident in all these wonderful, empowering beliefs, that our energy is impervious to anything external.

For some reason our mind thinks cursing, and lamenting our current circumstances, will somehow aid in changing them, and it is very reluctant to stop doing this.

So you don’t need to be perfect at this. But it is a habit you must be willing to transform. It is something of which you must be cognizant.

If you insist you are entitled to throw temper tantrums because you don’t like how your life is now, and use this as ‘evidence’ to keep your shitty belief system in tact, that is your prerogative.

But you may want to work on getting what you want in another way, because doing things the ‘easy’ way (aligning energetically) isn’t going to work for you.

This tendency is one of the conscious creator’s biggest saboteur.

I am sure this scenario sounds familiar:

We work on our energy; we feel a bit better. We feel ‘aligned.’ We are feeling ‘good’. We are excitedly awaiting the arrival of our ‘stuff.

But then nothing seems to be ‘happening.’ Or something happens our mind judges as ‘bad’ and we think it means we won’t get what we want.

Or we set our sights on a very specific manifestation, and when it doesn’t pan out, our seeming inability to control every aspect our reality is a real let-down ,and may leave us very disillusioned with this sort of teaching.

And we go right back to feeling badly. Our ‘efforts’ at being happier didn’t seem to have their intended effect, so why bother keeping it up?

Again, most of us aren’t so good that we will feel ‘happy’ no matter what. I get it. I am a person too, instilled with the same bad habits. I get we are drawn to this ‘work’ because we want certain things.

But again, we must have at least that willingness to not let our outside circumstances dictate our feelings.

When we are willing to release this mode of operating, we don’t feel so much pressure to act ‘as if’ we already have what we want, because by and large we are doing just fine without it.

We are not feeling pressure to manifest it. We know it will happen. We know there is no reason for it NOT to happen. So we can relax a bit. And again, we achieve a naturally better feeling state without having to put so much effort into it.

And this shift in our emotional state will lend itself to all sorts of wonderful things manifesting without us putting so much focus on specific things.

Now of course,  if it truly feels good to focus on specifics, go for it. But I suspect for most people, it doesn’t, so I imagine a perspective that suggests it might not be necessary would be quite welcome.

How Can You Feel The Feelings Now?

Again, at the end of the day, all you want is a feeling. You want to feel peaceful, happy, fulfilled, abundant, loved.

And I know your mind makes very compelling arguments as to why your current reality is not conducive to these energies, and you MUST manifest specific things before you could even entertain the possibility of feeling better.

But that is bullshit. It’s okay to want what you want for sure, but don’t let your mind trick you into thinking these specific things are the only way to get the feelings you crave, or that it is what you truly want. It isn’t.

Again, it’s the feelings. And there are lots of ways you can cultivate those feelings NOW.  You may not feel them ALL the time, and that’s fine.

But that energy being evoked to any degree will lend itself to attracting more things that mirror that energy back to you.

If you want to feel more abundant, maybe let yourself have more fun with your money. You may not be able to buy a beach house, or that designer wardrobe you crave, but there are options.

I wouldn’t recommend blowing the last of your savings account on a really fancy dinner, maxing out your credit cards buying a bunch of shit you don’t need,or any other tactic that will leave you panicking five minutes later.

But maybe you can treat yourself to a weekend away or a nice outfit for that work event you have coming up. You might also consider investing in yourself–pay for that class, program or coaching session that has been strongly resonating with you.

If you want to start a coaching business because you want to help people improve their lives, but right now it doesn’t seem to be getting off the ground, maybe you can volunteer as a mentor, or spend more time on personal development-oriented sites, answering forum questions or responding to blog post comments.

You also want to just go more ‘general’ with your efforts at boosting your energy. The activities don’t always have to be related to the manifestations and specific feelings associated with them.

Just feeling better overall will open the doors to improvements in all areas of your life. And you will start achieving NOW what you have always wanted all along, which is to feel better.

Isn’t is nice to know you can have what you ultimately want right in this immediate moment, and you don’t have to wait for it, or hope you can figure out how to ‘do’ manifesting ‘right’ so you can get some specific thing you believe is necessary for your happiness?

  1. Yes! This resonated with me so hard this morning!
    I have been releasing so much yucky resistance about money recently and it feels SO GOOD! I gotta say, accepting your reality and learning to love it for what it is was a game changer for me personally. That was how I was able to really pinpoint what my resistance was and once that happened it was super easy to be like “hey, that’s not a truth I believe in anymore!” And then I dance around as I watch that old belief wither away and new ones start to blossom and grow. It’s definitely a process and I am learning to LOVE this process! It feels so good! And I haven’t even had any big money transformations yet. Lots of small ones though and I try to milk those and celebrate whenever they do happen. It just feels like it’s all taken care of and all I gotta do is have fun and play this fun game with the universe. Remember, God/Source/Uni is so proud of you for EVERYTHING! Even the things your mind wants to label as “bad” or a “mistake”. Sending you all love on this beautiful day and thanks Kelli for sharing this energy with all of us. So appreciated!!!

      I got such an awesome excited energy reading this comment. It is oozing from you! Money stuff in particular feels really sweet to release because it is usually so heavy and with us constantly. Isn’t it great how we can get to a space where we actually (for the most part anyway) enjoy even dealing with our resistance? It is totally possible and makes things so much easier! Like you experienced, when we can look at that stuff without as much ‘charge’ we simply realize the belief isn’t valid, and deciding we let it go is really the key to shifting.

      1. Totally! And I’m very happy to report that I ended up manifesting a pretty big amount of money the day after I posted this. At the time I wrote this, I had $100 in my account and my $1000 rent was due in 3 days. In those 3 days, I manifested over $1000 and booked a few gigs for the following weeks too! It was like magic, felt like a valve was finally opened. It’s totally possible and I hope my story resonates with someone. the universe wants you to have everything you desire! You and your source are on the same page, so just let go and watch the magic happen right before you eyes 🙂 cheers!!!

          Thanks so much for sharing your story and congratulations on such an awesome manifestation. That is some nice ‘proof’ right there—larger amount, came in a short amount of time. This sort of manifestation can really cause a quick and easier shift out of certain beliefs.

  2. Wonderful post Kelli !!! And thanks John for asking this question.
    You have covered so many important points here. Going general helps a lot to move forward even if it feels extremely slow at a times. I started working on my reactions to the things I would like to get over. I started building habit not to react emotionally to the things I don’t wish to have in my life. That is helping me to move on quickly and saving my lots of frustration and energy.
    So that helps me to focus more on abundance. This is helping to manifest things smoothly and quickly. Don’t know how but my mind is doing good with trusting its own power. And it feels great. I always believed in ‘ask and it’s given’.
    Thank you for covering most confusing part of LOA. I too used to think how can I imagine every day what if ….. cause I don’t have that if yet. How was your trip?

      Thanks so much for your comment and I am so glad you enjoyed the post. I agree about the general…usually specifics trigger resistance. At some point we need to look at it more closely if it doesn’t seem to be lessening, but when we realize it’s the energetic shift that helps create the outer change and not so much zeroing in on a specific manifestation, we can shift a lot without really examining it too deeply as we manifest ‘evidence’ that allows us to let the other perspectives go, even if it isn’t happening consciously.

  3. Love this post so much, Kelli! I’m seeing small manifestations everywhere lately. I can feel the shifting happening bit by bit.

    What’s really amazing to me is this vibration – like a pleasant buzzing – I’ve been getting when I take care of myself. I’ve been stretching, walking and exercising – just what feels good – and I feel so good when I do this. If this is what vibing high feels like then I love it! I’ve lost 36 pounds so far, and while I’m working to lose more, I now have total faith that any excess I have is already melting away.

    As to the abundance stuff: I’ve decided to stop killing my self at my job. I’ve been working at least 45 hours a week due to a change in policy. If I don’t work 45 than I don’t get my old (higher) pay, so I’ve been killing myself for months trying to put in that extra time even though I don’t want this job. I’ve felt like I have to just to have enough, but I already have enough, don’t I?

    I’m not going to work 45 hours this week on purpose. I’m putting my money where my mouth is and trusting the Universe to provide.

      Thanks so much for your comment and sharing your experience. Greater self-care and self-love really is a core component of making true energetic transformations. You are sending out very powerful messages in doing that. That decision is awesome. It is a perfect example of how we kind of have to start ‘playing the part’ now and trust we can do things on our terms even if we haven’t necessarily manifested ‘evidence’ that supports these decisions. These choices help solidify that energy. Great stuff!

  4. Amazing! I have definately for the past 8 months been choosing to feel better because. I came to this article because for a moment I was going to implement action to achieve my desire which just did not feel right. It felt like efforting which is resistance. I needed to remind myself to trust.

    Is my hesistation and decision to just follow my ‘LOA instincts’ an indicatation that I am on the right path? It feels like my inner being is telling me that the manifestion will be better if I continue to feel good and trust. And it also feels like the universe is giving me a slap of the wrist for even considering to effort my way into manifestation…

      Thanks for your comment and so glad you found the post helpful. Anytime you are following your feelings you are on the right path. Let your energy ‘settle’ a bit and then see what you feel inspired to do. The only thing I would say though, and this is something we ALL need to work on, is just work on feeling good for the sake of feeling good, not always calculating how every action and feeling will factor into whether or not it will help you get what you want. Easier said than done, but it will actually make things happen a lot faster!

    Thank you for the post. I would like your guidance though. I have been reading about the law of attraction for some time now and I do believe in it. it’s a complicated story but I went through an unpleasant break up (not sure there is a pleasant one haha) anyway, I have been trying to manifest a more perfect relationship with my ex in a way that makes all parties involved happier (trying to apply the theory of oneness) because honestly I would love for us to be together again in a more perfect way but I don’t want to harm or hurt anyone in the process (since I know for a fact that he is with someone else at the moment). I think I might be giving you too much detail but I am kind of lost. Anyway, my question with regards to this article is the looking beyond my current state and believing that anything is possible. Believing that “my order” for a more perfect relationship with him that is makes all parties involved happier and more satisfied has been placed and is on its way is what IS happening. And I really truly believe that anything is possible and that all I have to do is ask and I shall receive (because that is a promise God has made us and he never lies) but the question is isn’t that looking beyond method creating more space between what it is I want and between actually having it. Because I am telling myself that I don’t already have it, yes it’s on its way but that “it’s on its way part” create more of it’s on its way instead of it’s already here? I hope I explained that well.
    My second question is, yes I believe that I have places my order and it’s on its way. I think of it like a custom bag, or dress or shoe…etc. that I have ordered. I have placed the order to a T. I have told them exactly how I want it to look and feel and fit. And they are working on it. And I believe full well that I will get it once they have finished working on it and it’s ready for me to have. But even with that I kind of have a time frame of when it will be sent to me which clams me. So even though I know I’m not getting it in 5 minutes but instead 5 weeks or whatever I know roughly when to expect it. So going back to the manifestation, even though I am sure that this perfect relationship is under construction and is on my its way to me the fact that I don’t have a clue of when kind of makes me restless. And I know I should let go of the when and how of everything.
    On more question, unrelated to this post I must admit but still about manifestation, is the “this or something better”. In reality no one would say no to something better if it came their way and they knew it was better. But is it wrong to want for what you want to be the best thing for you and hence there is nothing better? Again this relationship that I want is not out of need. I live a very good life as it is now but I would like to be in this relationship in the “better” form I had wished for where everyone benefits and is better off. However if I don’t get it I will be ok (although a bit lonely…just being honest) but I can take care of myself so it is more of an emotional want than a physical need.

    I do apologize for the long post, but I find this science quite fascinating and confusing at the same time and most sites with information are very one sided.

      While it is a possibility you could get back together with this person, by focusing on this specifically you are trying to control something you ultimately can’t control. You are trying to control the ‘how’ of your desired manifestation,which isn’t him, but a relationship in general, and actually not even that, but receiving love and whatever other positive emotion you think you would get from being with someone. It isn’t wrong to want what you want, but to know with 100 percent certainty he is the best representation and best person for you is not something you can know. Attachment will always be painful and take us out of flow because it really isn’t possible to want something so specifically so badly and still feel totally okay without it at the same time. The only thing we can truly control is our energy, and we can’t force anything to happen no matter how much we want it or focus on it. Be open to the possibility there is someone better out there for you.

      1. Sorry to keep going back and forth, but just for my clarity, whould controlling the “how” be controlling how i would get back together with him? Because LOA asks us to be as spesific as possible. And yes i recognise that i would like to be in a reltionship again (and all the good that comes with it) but if i was asked who i would want to be with i would choose him. And that is why im focusing on being with him again but in a better heathier way. That being said if something/someone better was to be sent my way i wouldnt say no.
        But in all honesty i miss the relationship and the friendship we had and i would at least like to have the friendship back. But im afraid that if i only as for the friendship then that means that i dont believe that relationship is possible and would lose the chance at that.

        Does that make sense? LOA can get a bit confusing for us beginers i guess haha

        1. It’s understandable we get attached to certain things and people–all our mind sees is what is right in front of us, all it knows is what we have already experienced. Controlling the ‘how’ is focusing on him specifically because what you TRULY want goes way beyond him but your mind can’t understand that. Remember, you control your energy not every facet of your external reality–you can’t force him into wanting you back. The LOA isn’t a tool to manipulate your reality to your mind’s exact specifications. Maybe he is good for you, maybe there is someone better–be open. Be open to the idea YOUR highest good isn’t being with him, and maybe HIS isn’t being with you, and you are both meant to be with other people. You have to relax a bit and stop trying to so hard to ‘understand’ how this works–that stems from your mind’s desire to ‘figure it out’ so it can control things and control will always hinder our manifesting ‘abilities.’ If you wanted any more personal insights, the only way I could really do that is speaking with you one on one in a coaching session so that might be something to consider if you are really feeling stuck.   6. Hi, thanks a lot for the post. I have been a self help/law of attraction/law of vibration/self image student for a long time. This post just addresses the nitty gritty I too faced and some time encounter. The challenge of living subjectively and not objectively…living outside in, detachment from current reality. I found that I couldn’t visualize like how the books told me to, so I did more research especially about psychology and the mind. I came across what is called the Mere Exposure Effect, this helped me construct a reality so as to develop a “act as if” behavior. I collected pictures of the things I desire including pictures of money. I would play the pictures off a USB on my TV set. The idea was to bring myself to accept that I already had all the stuff in those pictures. A few days after(12 days), I did start seeing a difference in the form of how I felt. I had more control of decision making, my self esteem had increased in regards to money. Even though I had not yet manifested anything from the pictures, a change in my mindset had happened. I felt the change in how I reacted to everything. I started to behave differently…of course in a way that matched the kind of person I desired to be.
    This post is very powerful and it is a wake up call to all believers in the power of self transformation. I believe the more we learn to develop a mindset that allows what we desire flow freely, the more better the world can be because we will be able to do much for ourselves and others.

  7. Thanks again Copper, I agree with you about finding the technique or mechanism that works for you. I did battle with affirmations as well. I came to realize that my life is what I tell myself or others. So I begun telling myself good things about myself and my life. My focus was to find relief and being thankful, not in a self pity spirit but with understanding that someone somewhere was in a worse state than I was. Today I still tell myself how good my life is, no matter my circumstance, and am always surprised how LOA works because my life is somehow a reflection of what I tell myself. Life is always unfolding into wonderful encounters. Telling myself good stuff about myself has really changed how I think about myself and everything. It keeps me calm most of the time. It gives me a sense of clarity. I hope this might be of help too to some one

  8. I have two questions. I am by no means, an advanced LOA’ist, but it something that keeps being brought into my life, so I’m giving it more attention. I was directed to your site from a post you had answering a questioning from someone who (like me) had all this [anticipation] energy, but nothing “big” ever seemed to happen. That has been my existence for the last five years, and while it wasn’t a bad feeling, it did become exhausting and defeating. So I’ve been reading your site, and you have a lot of great information/guidance, but… If we are to be utilizing our energy to manifest the feeling(s) we hope to have returned, are we not just training our mind to accept our situation and to be content with what gifts we currently have? To just be happy (loved) with what we do have and not with what we think we “need”/want? If that is the case, should we not call the Law of Attraction, the Law of Acceptance?
    You have said several times in your articles that the Universe doesn’t care what you ask for, be it $10 or a million, it’s all the same to the Universe, and we ultimately have complete control over our reality, but we have to be open to what the Universe gives us; so why bother asking for anything if we aren’t guaranteed to get what we want specifically? E.g., someone open to love in their life could end up with a great pet, but remain single forever. I want to be able to stay home with my child, so I become disabled and unable to work. Ultimately, my second question is, do we have to be careful of what we [wish] for?

    1. Hi Noelle. I can’t really cover everything you brought up here but can address the broader strokes. Accepting your circumstances is a good place to start because resisting them won’t help. It’s not the end goal because as your energy changes what shows up will too and there is no reason for specific things like money or romantic relationships to be excluded. So don’t worry your openness will lead to some less desirable substitute like a pet instead of a boyfriend. Focusing specifically on certain representations of the energy isn’t as necessary as it would appear at least in my experience. Detaching is really more about releasing worry and control not giving up on the thing.

Hello Kelli … it’s a awesome post I completely changed my mindset after reading your article and I felt better ..but I have something you ask you ..as u always say it’s about feeling ..so I always feel better when I think I’m already having what I have desired of ..so should I feel as if everyday ??every second ???i believe LOA works 100% for me ..so should I let it go thinking it will some to me for sure ??or else should I feel as if everyday ??

      Thanks for your comment and so glad you enjoyed the post. Don’t put too much pressure to feel happy and positive all the time; it also might not be a good idea to always be thinking about what you want, unless of course it feels really good to do so. That ‘excited’ anticipation is usually tainted with a bit of desperation and resisting our current circumstances, and we actually aren’t as aligned as we may think.
