Could you elaborate more on the ‘predominant’ energy’ especially for someone like me that is almost afraid of the universe bringing me exactly what I don’t want if I have even just a little fear?
Like many questions I get, you will find my answer just doesn’t address what is being asked, but issues that are likely behind why it is being asked.
We All Have ‘Kinks’ in Our Energy
The way I see it, so long as we are inhabiting a human body, that comes with a mind, an ego, a brain that thinks tens of thousands of thoughts a day, we are never going to have some ‘perfect’ vibration totally free of any fears, doubts, limiting beliefs, negative emotions, and all the other stuff we hate, and hope our personal development ‘work’ will allow us to eliminate completely at some point.
No matter how much you work on your energy, how much you change, how much you ‘improve’ you will probably get caught up in the ‘humanness’ that exists within, which consists of all the aforementioned issues.
There is no way you can uncover every belief you have that may work ‘against’ you all at once. Many will not surface until you are faced with a situation where they get triggered somehow.
You may find a belief you largely cleared as it relates to one aspect of your life–finances, relationships, health–is still alive and well as you focus your attention on another aspect, as you find yourself facing some sort of challenge there.
No matter how much we intellectually understand certain beliefs and fears may not be valid once you gain a greater understanding of the true nature of reality, it can take awhile until we really, truly feel this way.
Same goes for the new beliefs we are trying to adopt.
Your mind will never stop doing what it does. It will get attached to people and opportunities. It will have expectations and feel disappointed when they are not met. It will still operate from a space of fear, lack and limitation of all kinds. It will go to the worst case scenario, focus on what it doesn’t like and hopes doesn’t happen in the future.
Your ego will fight for all your shitty beliefs and perspectives–doesn’t matter how much pain they cause you. It created them, and wants to protect them at all costs; it gets very defensive anytime it is being suggested how you think and feel is ‘wrong.’
Again, doesn’t matter the negative impact. Your mind couldn’t give two shits about whether you are a happy, healthy, well-adjusted human being.
So we have to make peace with the fact we can’t really escape the experience of being human fully and completely so long as we are here having it.
This really isn’t the problem we think it is. So onto the actual problem, well, the main one anyway…
Resisting It All is the Bigger Problem
Our negative emotion, our fears, our limiting beliefs and all that other icky stuff is not really that bad.
Our childish insistence on wanting to be ‘happy’ all the time coupled with our obsession with manifesting what we want as quickly as possible so we can finally feel better, creates a huge amount of resistance to our negativity. It creates an insane amount of anxiety about it.
We don’t like feeling badly, and we don’t want to deal with these feelings. According to the law of attraction, we must be ‘positive’ all the time or we won’t get what we want; and since we are often desperately attached to these manifestations, we immediately try to push any negative emotion deeper down inside us, and be ‘positive.’
But since that negativity is running pretty deep, this usually doesn’t work, or it might for a very short time, before it comes rearing its ugly head again.
And we go into panic mode because we are being ‘negative’, and that means we aren’t going to get what we want, and oh my god, if we don’t get what we want, we can’t possibly go on.
This resistance to our emotion and limiting beliefs, this reluctance to let ourselves acknowledge it, feel it, engage with it, will create much bigger problems in the manifesting department than the feelings and beliefs themselves.
All of the feelings, fears and beliefs we collectively experience are totally normal and understandable. Most of us aren’t fully enlightened beings who will remain emotionally neutral no matter what is happening, who have a complete, unshakable trust and faith in the Universe and our creative capabilities.
Certain things happen in life that tend to evoke really strong emotions and fears, like getting sick or really serious money problems. We all have bad days. We all get frustrated when things aren’t the way our mind wants them to be.
When we let these emotions just be, when we accept them, they tend to pass more quickly. Even in more intense forms, you would be amazed at how much you can handle it when the resistance around these feelings is no longer part of the equation.
Your feelings are simply alerting you to how you are focusing, what you believe, what perspectives you are adopting. What message are you getting? What are they trying to tell you?
If you start viewing your negative feelings and fears as the wonderful little helpers they were designed to be, as a normal part of life, rather than little bastards cock-blocking your manifestations, your relationship with them will change dramatically for the better, and you will start to see that they really won’t affect your life as negatively as you believe they do.
Remember What You Are Really After
The question this post was based on was a bit longer, and included some more detail as to why this person was asking it. Essentially, something she wanted seemed to manifest but then it went away, and she was worried her fears were a contributing factor.
The first thing I will say is that manifestations might not always mean what our mind wants them to mean--on the surface it is what we want, but it might serve another purpose. The relationship wasn’t meant to be ‘the’ relationship, it was there to show you something else, for example. But I digress.
Anyway, the primary driver behind this question, and pretty much any question we have about a teaching like the law of attraction, is fear. Fear we aren’t doing manifesting ‘right’ and if we aren’t doing it ‘right’ then we won’t get what we want.
It always comes down to being afraid of not getting what we want. Now, don’t get me wrong. I always like to offer this reminder when I talk about stuff like this: It is okay to want specific things, like a relationship or money. I want stuff too.
You were drawn to this teaching because there were things you were lacking, and you wanted to bring them into your life. I was too. It’s all good. Believe me.
There is no reason that we should not have the things we feel compelled to create in our lives. We are here to create, and that starts with a desire for something.
But when this work of inner transformation is just to get specific things above all else, not to actually feel better, to strengthen our relationship with Spirit, improve our life and be happier overall, get in flow more consistently, heal emotional wounds, love ourselves more, and all that other warm fuzzy stuff, we are going to suffer.
And ‘suffer’ might seem like a strong word, but it’s really not. It is not suffering like intense physical pain, or a severe emotional trauma, but more of a ‘lower-grade’ suffering that will always be in the background, as you make your ‘work’ all about getting something, as you cultivate your positive emotion as simply a means to an end, to get what your mind wants.
You’ll never be able to enjoy your life if all the ‘work’ is simply about manifesting specific things because the lack of the thing really isn’t the problem. So even if you manage to let it in, the emotional payoff will be lacking, and you will likely just set your sights on a new manifestation, and so goes the vicious cycle.
This is a lesson I am still learning, and I suspect it might be one of those life-long ones, that we may never fully get 100 percent, one that we will circle back to many times throughout our life.
This is a really great example of an issue where there can be a big-ass gap between what we understand intellectually and what we are actually feeling.
When you remember what you are really after, you will ease up a bit on the pressure you may feel to be ‘happy’ and ‘positive’ all the time.
When you see the value in your negative emotion, and understand the true roots of your discontent (not the lack of the thing but the meaning assigned to it) you will allow yourself to properly process your feelings, you won’t be in such a mad rush to get what you want, you will ease up on any attachment you might feel to a particular representation of the manifestation or the potential channels through which it could possibly come.
You can give yourself permission to enjoy your life now, to feel better now, even if you still don’t have what you want, because again, you at least have a willingness to recognize that isn’t the problem. Isn’t that a nice thought?
And in doing all this, you will make it easier to nurture the energies that will serve you; you will have an easier time letting the beliefs that serve you take root more deeply. You will have an easier time letting go of the ones that aren’t serving you.
And this all lends itself to the ‘good’ energies being dominant, being stronger.
How to Make ‘Good’ Energy Dominant?
Ah, the million dollar question. This can seem really hard, but inherently it isn’t. We make it hard with all our resistance, attachment, formulating what we want from our mind, and what have you. Just is what it is and have to accept that.
Here’s the thing–it ultimately comes down to choice. But a choice you have to make over and over, not just once.
If you believe there is something to a teaching like the law of attraction, if you resonate with the idea your state of mind creates your external experience, if you believe your feelings are a guide to alert you to truth and untruth, if you believe you are inherently worthy and deserving, if you believe life is supposed to be easy, then making this energy dominant all comes down to committing to these beliefs, choosing them in favor of your current beliefs that feel all sorts of bad, every time you are called upon to do so.
This ‘choosing’ really is all you can do. There is no logical argument you can make to your mind to accept these new beliefs and reject the old ones. The type of ‘proof’ your mind is accustomed to using to evaluate the truth of something is not available in this realm.
It is about having a true willingness to release your old belief system, a true willingness to feel better without having a reason to, a true willingness to concede the things AND PEOPLE your mind is attaching to may not be the best representation of what you want.
Making this energy dominant will require you to cultivate some faith and trust in a way of life, a way of thinking and being, for which you may not have much evidence for in your own experience.
You will need to consciously engage with your energy with real consistency in whatever ways work best for you, with whatever tools you find most helpful.
You have to be willing to stop fighting for your shitty beliefs, to stop always focusing on what you don’t want, to stop complaining about your life, to stop being a victim, to stop blaming your problems on someone or something else.
You have to make your vibrational management a top priority; you have to take a good long hard look at how you are conducting yourself, and be willing to change what needs to be changed. You have to set boundaries and stick to them.
You have to deal with your shit. If we remember the law of attraction is a Universal law that has always been operating in your life, and not just some new ‘tool’ you can employ to manipulate reality, you see how just getting ‘positive’ may not be sufficient to see any meaningful change in your reality.
You’ll probably have to take a deeper look at what led you to create the unwanted in your life now.
Remember you are after a feeling ultimately, and you want to see what you can do now to create those feelings. Then as they become more dominant, you’ll attract more things that cause you to feel that same way.
If you are doing these things, then that ‘good’ energy will become dominant, and that is all you need. Perfection not required.

Thanks for the post, Kelli and thank you to the person who asked the question. 🙂 I find it hard to be positive “all the time” and I think we all just have natural ups and downs. I’m just trying to focus on feeling better. Although I do have a fear of being “too happy” in case something bad happens to bring me down, so I need to work on that.
Hi Moonsparkle
The fear of getting too happy in case something bad happens is pretty universal I think. The contrast is greater, and the pain would seem more painful. This is definitely something we want to work on because this fear will definitely keep us out of alignment with lots of great stuff–there is a part of us that actually doesn’t want it, that feels like it would be dangerous. No amount of wanting can override these deeper fears and beliefs.
I woke up today and was pondering over a few things…not in my usual happy state…asked the universe for guidance. And the universe led me to your blog and I found my answers and mostly found reassurance. So thank you. I love the way you write and how gently your flow of thoughts move and collide into something so meaningful …I resonate with it so much.
I will be reading more of your articles today and in the days to come. How lovely are the little signs the universe sends us! Have a blessed day.
Hi June
Thanks so much for taking the time to share your thoughts. I am so happy you felt a resonance with my content and you are finding it helpful. The simple act of asking for assistance opens our energy up to receive it…such a beautiful, simple system! Just remember your feelings are messengers and showing us where we are focusing and what perspectives we are holding, and allowing ourselves to explore them will give us the very information we need to align more strongly with all the ‘good’ stuff!
