Law of Attraction: I’ve Been Feeling Good but the Frustration is Coming Back

Could you do a post on what to do when frustrations rush back and maybe how to make opportunities? I’m trying to make positive changes in my career (which is slowly coming together and I’m confident with) and my (non- existent) romantic life. Whilst I am making positive progressions and I’m monitoring my own thought patterns I can’t help but relapse on frustration and feelings of sadness.

If our outer world is created by way of our inner world, we make a very helpful, but difficult-to-implement realization: we must start feeling better in the present moment before we are given a reason to.

We see the typical mode of living outside-in, where are feelings are determined by what is happening outside , isn’t going to be very helpful. If the energy comes first, and then the manifestations, we must embody an energy–at least most of the time–that is a match to what we would like to manifest, whether it be better health, a new job, more money or a boyfriend.

This inability to look beyond ‘what is’–which isn’t a true inability but more like an unwillingness— and cultivate the energy that will usher in what ‘could be’ is probably the biggest stumbling block.

When we are caught up in what our life looks like now, focusing on what we don’t like, and trying to manifest from this space of resistance, we are still predominantly in the energy that created what we are trying to change, and so it persists.

Resisting what we don’t like just adds fuel to the fire. The good news is, however, you don’t have to worry about becoming perfect–you just need to be in a state of non-resistance more of the time. But anyway…

We are not used to feeling ‘good’ for no reason. We somehow think our discontent with our current circumstances and ‘wanting’ is integral to the manifesting process. If the Universe doesn’t know how miserable we are without our ‘stuff’ then maybe it won’t bring it to us, it will conclude we don’t want it, so thinks our mind.

So if you find yourself in the position of slipping back into frustration things aren’t quite to your liking yet, here are a few insights that might help, ones that aren’t going to be brand new if you’ve spent time any amount of time on this site, but ideas we often need to be reminded of quite frequently. We are dealing with some deep conditioning here remember.

Our Hardest But Most Important Lesson

So, you read about the law of attraction, and discover a very wonderful thing–your energy creates your reality. How you feel, what you believe, will be mirrored back to you in every aspect of your life, from your health to your finances.

If you believe what you want it is possible, it is. If you think positively, things will go your way. If you believe the Universe is set up to work for you and not against you, you will be able to more easily receive all manner of assistance it is capable of providing.

If you act like you already have what you want, it will make its way in sooner than later. If you act ‘as if’ your reality will follow suit.

So it becomes clear to us we need to make some modifications–sometimes major–to how we are currently operating, how we are feeling, what we believe, how we view ourselves.

Unless we make said modifications, we won’t be able to get what we want, according to the law of attraction.

So in order to get our ‘stuff’ we work on getting happy, on feeling ‘good.’ If that is what is required of us, we will play ball.

We are working on feeling better, not just for the sake of feeling better, of improving our well-being and emotional health, but as a means to an end, a way to get something.

We want stuff, and we think this is a way to get it. No use pretending this isn’t the primary motivator for pretty much everyone who expresses an interest in this teaching. It’s fine. There is nothing wrong with wanting what we want, and no reason we can’t have it.

But this doesn’t change the fact if we work on feeling better just to get something, we are setting ourselves up for a lot of frustration. It will be really hard to cultivate the ‘beneficial’ energies more consistently because we will still be operating in the aforementioned outside-in mode.

Barring manifestations to keep feeding the energy, your mind will fight you on feeling better because you don’t have a ‘reason’ to feel this way.

The whole ‘feeling good’ thing clearly isn’t working so it will be reluctant to keep employing it as a strategy in ‘Operation: Get My Stuff.’

So you may be thinking you are now being tasked with trying to get into a space where you have zero desire for what you want, and work on being happy just for the sake of being happy–how boring. You can’t let your ‘wants’ taint this purest of intentions.

But I have some good news for you–you don’t have to do that. It would probably be an exercise in futility, and trying to make yourself not want something you clearly want will just make you want it more, and you’ll notice its absence even more.

Anytime our mind thinks we are giving up on what it wants, it freaks the fuck out, and it will create even more resistance.

But what you do want to do is just keep in mind what you really want, which is the feelings. It always comes down to feelings, no exceptions, ever, ever, ever.

We want what we want because we think having it will make us feel things we want to feel. We don’t like what we don’t like in our life now, and we resist certain future outcomes, because these circumstances make us feel things we don’t want to feel.

If you are using positive emotion simply as a ‘tool’ to reach the goal of manifesting a specific thing, rather than making it the goal itself, it will be much, much harder to remain in the energies that will serve you more consistently and with less effort. When this is the goal above all else, it can bring us down a path we aren’t going to like.

What is the Absence Triggering?

If we see the law of attraction for what it truly is–a Universal law that has always been operating in our lives, and not a ‘tool’ we can now employ to manipulate reality that we just weren’t using previously.  you see how it can be a good idea to explore your ‘negative’ energy that you may have now, rather than just focusing on trying to feel ‘good’ and adopt the beliefs that will serve you, the beliefs you are told you must believe if you want to get what you want.

Your energy was always creating your reality, but since we weren’t conscious of our energy, not being deliberate in how we were focusing our attention and the like, we were creating by default, not consciously.

Every time you think about what you don’t have, when you have been feeling good but the frustrations seem to be coming back, that energy is what is being activated. That energy is being given more ‘fuel.’ Those reactions are showing you how you are focusing, what you are believing, what you are thinking.

Our feelings are messengers delivering us all that ‘data’ and that is why it is so important to pay attention to them, not to ignore them, not to resist them.

If we don’t take the time to examine what is going on there, our efforts at changing our energy will constantly be thwarted. All that ‘positive’ energy will not take root as strongly because it has nowhere to take root.

It is just being ‘layered’ on top of the more ‘negative’ energies that have been there a really long time, that have established some deep grooves in your vibration. It’s like giving a little spritz of air freshener in a room full of rotting garbage–it is no match.

We will have all these ‘hidden agendas’ to our manifesting–serving our ego, looking for validation, trying to make negative feelings go away, etc…

It would serve us well to ‘tidy up’ our energy a bit, to manifest from a ‘cleaner’ space of feeling okay as we are now, of feeling like we don’t ‘need’ anything to be happy, of not looking to the manifestations as the answers to our problems.

So if you think about what you don’t have, and it feels badly, why is that so? What does it make you believe about yourself or how the world works? What do you think it says about you as a person? Why do you specifically feel angry, sad, fearful or anxious?

Again, it always comes back to feelings. If not having what you wanted didn’t feel badly in some way, you probably wouldn’t care about manifesting it. Negative feelings and a sense of ‘need’ don’t always have to precede our wanting of something, but for most of us, that is going to be the case, especially in the beginning.

Manifesting from a space of feeling whole, complete and happy now, and wanting things from a space of ‘hey, that would be cool,’ ‘hey, this desire is coming from a space of expanding my life, nourishing my soul, etc…’ is an ever-unfolding process in my experience. Making that the truly dominant motivator–might never be the sole one– usually takes some time.

In most cases, we want what we want because not having it feels badly in some way, and we usually need to investigate that a bit. All that is being triggered by the lack of this thing is the real reason you aren’t happy–the meanings, the stories, the conclusions your mind has assigned to your current circumstances, are usually pretty painful.

Your divorce made you damaged goods and no one will want to be with you.

The bully in high school was right–you are a loser.

The other person always ends the relationship–there is something fundamentally unlovable about you.

Your parents really fucked you up, and you’ll never get your life together.

You have been struggling with your business for so long, things will probably never turn around.

All men are assholes.

All women are psycho.

Your gender, sexual orientation, race, weight, ethnic background, disability, etc…will always hold you back.

This examination doesn’t have to be constant, every time you feel a negative feeling. You are not tasked with transforming every ‘wrinkle’ in your energy completely and fully in order to see a change in your reality. You don’t have to be emotionally ‘perfect.’

But if you are feeling really frustrated by your lack of ‘progress,’ if you are feeling really attached to something, if you feel like you have been putting in a lot of ‘effort’ on the manifesting front for a particular thing, there is a very good chance the desire is thoroughly ‘tainted’ with all sorts of thoughts, beliefs, feelings and perspectives that feel badly.

And if this is the case, it is something to look at. It might not be comfortable, but it will help you tackle the true root of your unhappiness, and you can get what you want a lot sooner–feeling better. The ‘stuff’ comes too…don’t fret my pet. No reason for it not to.

Now, you don’t have to do this. You can keep ‘trying’ to work on your energy so you can manifest things that your mind judges as ‘good’ so you get to feel better.

You can can certainly shift it enough to see some changes. This more conscious effort to be more positive, and the like, will count for something no doubt, especially when you compare it to operating on complete auto-pilot.

But no matter what manifests as a result, it might not provide the emotional payoff you were anticipating since not having the thing was not really why you were upset in the first place.

But sometimes we might have to experience this truth for ourselves at least once or twice before we are willing to engage in this less desirable aspect of vibrational transformation.

The key takeaway here is that the bad feelings are coming from within, they aren’t a result of what is happening outside. Remembering this is really helpful in this ‘work.’

Overall Energy Management

Because you were likely drawn to a teaching like the law of attraction to manifest in a specific area of your life, you tend to spend a lot of time trying to shift energy around a particular subject.

And this is usually something we need to do to some degree because there can be some heavy stuff there energetically. We may have certain hang-ups about this area in particular, and we need to give this ‘part’ of our energy some individual attention.

But all this ‘work’ on our ‘money vibration,’ ‘relationship vibration,’ ‘health vibration’ can backfire because it can make us focus even more on not having it, we get more attached to ‘making’ it happen by ‘using’ the law of attraction.

We often overestimate our ‘blocks’ and get all anxious there must be a belief hidden in some deep, dark, inaccessible corner of our mind. And if we don’t find it, we are screwed. We’ll never ‘fix’ what needs to be ‘fixed.’

And an effort that was designed to help us shift negative feelings and thought patterns, to remove energetic obstacles, seems to have the exact opposite effect and just makes it all worse.

And then we feel like we are ‘failing,’ we are doing manifesting ‘wrong’ and we will never get what we want. And this feels a lot worse than it did before, when we didn’t think it was possible at all, and while upsetting, we had some degree of acceptance about it.

Going general with your vibrational ‘work’ can be of huge benefit, primarily because it will give you what you want right now–to feel better. All you want is to be happier. If you feel better overall, that will affect all areas of your life, and you will likely see all sorts of changes without having had to focus on that aspect specifically.

When you are feeling better generally, you will have a much easier time adopting perspectives about your life now that feel better. You’ll feel more confident things will get better, that solutions to problems you may be facing now will present themselves, even if you can’t see ‘how’ right now.

And again, this is a boon to your vibe. Your energy will stabilize; you won’t be knocked out of higher states so easily. Feeling better ,and more positive, will become more second nature, more your default setting, and not something you have ‘try’ so hard to make happen.

So what could help you achieve all that right now?

How can you enjoy your life more? How can you take better care of yourself physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually?

Where is the negativity in your life now, the drain, the struggle? What steps can you take to start rectifying that?

Where are you neglecting yourself and how can you change that?

Creating Opportunities

As far as action goes, taking certain actions can be of benefit because it helps create the expectation things will happen for us.

If we examine our lack of desire to take certain actions that might be beneficial to us, we might find various energetic ‘issues’ that were contributing (lack of confidence, fear of criticism, etc…), and if we ‘clear’ them up, we will want to take certain actions, not because we feel we ‘must’ but because we want to, they feel light, right, good, and/or fun.

It is important to establish the difference between action we take to try and force results we want, and core actions that are necessary to open up a certain path, to bring something into existence.

No amount of energetic work will get the latter done for you–you will have to make certain choices, make certain decisions, take certain steps. There is a difference between creating through energetic alignment, and withdrawing from participating in your own life, hoping the Universe or God takes care of it all for you.

The role of action is something we may always overestimate given our conditioning, and we’ll have to honor this, and work within that paradigm. Taking action can also be fun ,and something we will likely want to do in various respects, such as in a business about which we are really passionate.

The key is remembering it is always the energy that will determine the result, that actions are manifestations of energy. So we want to do our best to act from that aligned space. We act, but with detachment to specific results. The actions feel inspired.

Law of Attraction: I’ve Been Feeling Good but the Frustration is Coming Back

  1. Hello Kelli,

    Great shout over here 🙂

This happens to me quite often. The things are going easy in life, everything is at stable, how it should be but suddenly the
feeling of frustration is overcoming my self from the inside. Yeah things are not completely perfect in our life
through out, sometimes, relationship breakdown, family issues, work load etc. they all keep revolving in our lives from
time to time but yeah still people learn to get going as these things happens in life.

Yeah to achieve the toughest things we need to built in positive energy, this can help a lot in achieving the hardest thing
in our life. Yeah there are plenty of negative vibes around us but still we need to find that positive energy so that
we can get what we want. No one has ever achieve with carrying on the negative vibes along with theri side.

Indeed we need to provide a pillar through which our energy can grow upwards. So that it can help us to stay focused and
also to maintain the cycle of life we want to lead.

    Thanks for the share.

    Shantanu.

    1. Hi Shantanu
Thanks for your comment and your wise words as always. You definitely seem to be the type of person who takes challenges in stride and always tries to keep a positive frame of mind while still being in acceptance of the current moment.

  2. That’s it; the absence triggers the feeling. Or the perceived absence triggers the feeling.

Instead of bemoaning frustration – which is natural to do when new to the LOA and conscious creation – dig a bit deeper and see the blessing in the feelings. You are literally being gifted with the exact lower energy feelings that you can feel, clear and let go for good, so you can allow in more sweetness.

Almost like that which most people curse, or get angry about, those feelings, are the very keys to the jail in which the individual appears to live.

    Excellent insight as always.

    1. Hi husband
You are right…we are just being shown information that will be very helpful in getting us where we want to be. When viewed in that light, we can react totally differently to our unwanted manifestations and feelings.

  3. Hi, great article! Love your way of thinking, it’s refreshing and accurate👍… I’ve been stuck in a very weird and intense place for many years now; a couple years ago, I manifested an amazing apartment, wich has in detail everything I wished for. Everything went well for many months, until I realized I had very disrespectful neighbours that have the narcissistic personality disorder, so every footstep of theirsis like a hammer into my soul. Teh women over me behaves exactly like my mother, and the young men the other side behaves exactly like my brother, closing doors with immense noise at midnigh and such. These behaviors bring me such rage and anger, I know very weel where it comes from, in fact I thought I dealt with all this more than once… Im so confused and puzzled, I don’t want to brag but Im great at manifesting things, and they usually manifest with with such precise accuracy… And about this matter, nothing seems to work, Im asking for signs if I should move out but nothing happens, I visualize that it’s changing but I can’t seem to make a difference. I have never been that stuck, I don’t understand! Any thoughts on this? Anyways, than you so much for your great blog, you are an angel xox

    1. Hi Edy
      1. This situation is probably making you even more mad because everything else is so perfect, and this one issue just seems to be ruining it. Since our mind likes to focus in on what we don’t like, it is really digging in on this.

2.The way you are talking about this is very dramatic…rage, footsteps on your soul and such. This issue is triggering something much deeper than just being annoyed at a neighbor’s behavior. You need to look at that. You already gave a clue there–comparing these people to your family, who I am assuming you have issues with.

      3. It might be a good idea to talk to them. Sometimes people aren’t aware their behavior is problematic. We often assume people know they are bothering others with their behavior and just don’t care, which is why we often feel so angry about it.

      4. You can’t wait for a sign to be told what to do…you have to make choices for yourself.

      1. Thank you for taking the time! I’ll sure look into the elements you suggested here. Yes that is funny that when we need an answer the most, that’s the moment the universe chose not to send us any signs or synchronicities.

        1. Hi edy. I likely just overlooked it by accident. Will go through recent comments and respond. Happens sometimes

  4. Thank you so much Kelli!

I have a reason to suspect this is the answer to the request I had sent you.

I was at work when I sent that question- I was frantically trying to hold back tears. I’ll feel positive and strong for weeks or months at a time (with slow or little changes to my outer reality) and then all of a sudden I’ll switch into grieving mode. My life in comparison to world issues is wonderful. I have a job, family, health, a degree of stability and a roof over my head but I can’t shake the heartache of feeling unworthy due to lack of romantic opportunities (I have been single for most of my life) and the feelings of anger and frustration when I see evidence of my hard work at my job being overlooked for the sake of politics and scapegoating.

I’ve always been quite good at knowing what I want but when it doesn’t seem forthcoming I feel angry, isolated and vulnerable.

The Funny thing was I forgot that I had sent this request to you and had been living life until this week when I entered the negative state again. I was lead back to this page…

Thank you for writing this. I’m going to take my time to absorb and do the hard and ugly work (it can’t be any uglier than crying till 4 am for no obvious reason right?) It’s true you can intellectually know what you need to do but you can’t BS your mind or your true emotions.

    1. Hi Amy
You are very welcome and I am glad you enjoyed my response and found it helpful. I know it kind of sucks but letting yourself feel all the stuff you have been feeling is the best thing you can do for your energy–there is great power in manifesting from that cleaner space energetically where we are not primarily wanting what we want from a space of making our bad feelings go away now. That we start there is typical–our wanting is usually sparked by that sense of thinking we need something to be happy–but staying in that space makes things a lot harder. It’s okay to want what you want and while the gratitude for other things is very helpful, and can give us perspective, we don’t want to fall into the trap of then feeling guilty for wanting more or not being happy in the moment. When we allow ourselves to do this purge, it allows us to manifest the best versions of the things we want.We want the boyfriend who is a match to all the love we have been cultivating for ourselves, not the one who is the perfect manifestation to show us we still have major self esteem issues, for example. We are feeling pretty good anyway, and everything that happens is just an awesome bonus to enhance our life. If you find my material helpful, you might be interested in my Manifesting a Relationship class series where you can apply these teachings in this more specific context.

  5. I just came across this and honestly it really made a lot of sense I have been feeling frustrated with my photography business in the fact of no one is buying anything and all the magazines I emailed haven’t responded. Plus wanting to complete my dream by my birthday in june just puts a ton of frustration on me and making me feel anxious and frustrated. But after reading this I honestly am starting to get it now and realizing that I need to do work on myself about being positive and less negative all the time ya know :). I was just focusing on what I wanted to manifest and not being joyful on working on my photography which brings me joy that I guess I just got lost. So glad I did come across this and thank you so very much!

    1. Hey Adam
Thanks for your comment and sharing your experience. Let yourself feel all that frustration, anger, anxiety, about your business. The more you purge that, the less you will be looking for the success, the money and all the other things you want from it, from a space of ‘curing’ those feelings. What’s happening with your business isn’t actually the cause, but just a trigger for something deeper, something more ‘general’ you could say, like feeling the need to prove something or feeling worthy. That was a huge turning point for me in my own life when it came to business and money. And things turned around pretty quickly. Of course as a human, I still wanted all the things we tend to want, but the ‘need’ started dying down and it helped me refocus on why I was doing what I was doing in the first place–just because it made me happy and I wanted to. And the ‘results’ I got from that were not the end all be all, but nice byproducts of that energy. If you were interested in approaching your business from a more energetically friendly space, and my work is helpful, I do have a program about the law of attraction and business you might want to check out here and see if it resonates
