Law of Attraction: 3 Practical Tips to Shift Energy More Quickly

As you can see from my last few posts, I have been on an LOA kick lately, and it continues today. It is probably my favorite topic about which to write because I have seen so many amazing things happen in my life since consciously working with my energy. And I want to help other people successfully tap into their own power to create their life just as they would like it.

If someone had told me years ago, I would be writing a blog like this, coaching people on how to improve their lives, and doing it while living in exotic places like Bali, Fiji and Thailand, I would have been like…yeah, whatever you say dude. The prospect would have excited me for sure, as it contains my two passions–travel and personal development–but, as for it actually being something that would happen? No way.

I know how frustrating it is to struggle with something that is supposed to be so simple. Yeah, ask and it is given; just feel good as much as you can. And, the more you work with the process, and shift your current belief system, the simplicity of  it all becomes more obvious. But, like anything new, it can take a bit to learn the ropes. As you form new desires, you will come up against new resistance, and beliefs that weren’t really being activated previously, and you’ll sometimes feel like you are regressing, but that isn’t what is happening at all.

There is a lot of conditioning to be stripped away. We need some guidance in making these shifts, and tips on how to develop a different mindset. That is what I aim to provide here.

Practice Focusing on Desired Outcomes in Advance

When we have decided we would like certain elements our life to play out differently, we have to work on gaining some good momentum behind our more desired outcomes.

You want to build your confidence in talking with new people so you can more easily align with a new relationship, or be a better networker.

You desire to advance in your career, and need to develop more assertiveness in expressing your opinions and ideas so your boss can see how awesome you are, or you want to increase your sales.

You have set your sights on a better relationship with your mother, and want to work on being less reactive.

When we have been experiencing a similar situation over and over ,in a negative way, for a prolonged period, there is a lot of energy built up there, and a lot of momentum behind the ‘yuck.’. There has been a lot of focus on what we don’t like, and don’t want, and surprise, surprise, we get a big, heaping serving of the same time and time again.

We have been carrying around some limiting beliefs that have shaped our life until now, and we see all we have experienced as ‘proof’ they are true. But, remember our world is created from the inside out, so these outcomes prove nothing about what is actually possible and true—all of these unwanted situations say about us is we have some shitty beliefs and nothing more.

If you want to experience something else, you need to work on shifting your energy and beliefs in advance of whatever situations you are hoping will start changing—when you are already in the moment, and things aren’t going your way, it is really hard to shift gears. Technically, we can take things in a different direction, but again, it is really hard.

Just saying we want something to be different, and thinking positive thoughts about it (remember just thinking something without feeling is not enough), is insufficient to make a change because there is too much ‘stuff’ that needs to be worked through. The good energy is not there.

This is where deliberate focus on what you want, and visualizing, come in handy big time. You don’t have a lot of experience focusing positively in this aspect of your life, but plenty of focusing negatively. It is all about making that conscious choice to direct our energy and attention elsewhere, to believe something that makes us feel good and empowers us.

Think about what feelings you are after, and cook up a scenario that allows you to feel them genuinely. What do you want to believe about yourself, and what is possible, in this situation? As you begin your visualizing, you may begin to feel a bit of resistance—this is all the beliefs rising to the surface that contradict what you want.

It’s okay they are there—see what they are telling you and use this information to rework the visualization into something that actually feels good. Usually, the more specific you get, the more resistance that pops up, so keep that in mind. And, don’t worry if you can’t get crystal clear pictures—I said recently in another post that I am not that great at forming mental pictures, but it is more about the feeling anyway, so don’t fret.

Do this for at least a few minutes a day. If there is some specific event coming up, start doing this about a week before,at least, to give yourself some time to overcome some of the resistance you may feel when doing your deliberate focusing and visualizing, and get in a good chunk of time that is just pure good energy.

Now you have that positive momentum going, and as time goes on, you will notice these situations changing more to your liking—you may not knock it out of the park the first time around, and that’s okay. Just keep working on cultivating those feelings that lie behind whatever it is you want. If certain beliefs keep popping up, it means they are bigger ones that need to be examined, and you shouldn’t ignore them.

But, with all that above being said, don’t underestimate the power of just trying to feel good in general, in getting energy moving in the right direction. When we start feeling better overall, it impacts all areas of our life, and can improve a variety of problematic situations without any specific focus.

Start Making Different Decisions…Plain and Simple

One of the reasons we struggle so much with consciously working with law of attraction is our inability to extract ourselves from our current way of thinking and being. It is so deeply ingrained, we often can’t see there is another way to go about things. It’s like we have tunnel vision.

We get very attached to our problems and our stories. We love nothing more than arguing for our limitations, why we can’t do the things we want, and why we have to keep doing the things we don’t. We love it, love it, love it.

We work with the principles, but we just feel stuck and frustrated with the lack of results. We try to overcome our limiting beliefs, and get our energy moving in a better direction, but we just can’t seem to make any headway. It seems really hard, but we make it much harder than it has to be.

One of the most powerful ways to really start seeing changes in our energy, and the resulting external experience, is to decide we will start making different decisions—that is it, plain and simple. Yes, I can hear the ‘yeah buts’ forming in your mind right now, but this is non-negotiable.

What decisions have you been making now that have been perpetuating all that is unwanted in your life? What beliefs do you hold that are making you do things you don’t really want to do, things that you know on a deeper level, aren’t right or necessary?

Have you been carrying around a belief that self-sacrifice is necessary to get what you need or want? Do you know how to overcome that belief? Stop making choices that involve self-sacrifice—tell yourself you just won’t do it. Allow yourself to believe there is another way, even if it is not readily apparent to you, a way that does not involve pain.

Do you believe putting your needs first is wrong, and this self-neglect has caused you so much pain you don’t know if you can take one more second? Want to start shifting that belief? Start putting your needs first—and no, I’m not talking about becoming some a-hole who steps over everyone to get what he wants regardless if it hurts others. I am talking about deciding that your happiness and well-being is just as important as anyone else’s, and that tending to them will be a top priority from here on out.

Once you set this intention to make different decisions, you will find yourself attracting situations that give you an opportunity to work this ‘decision muscle. Just like any activity new to us, we often need a bit of practice until we become adept and comfortable doing it. And how else will we get better at making certain choices than to be presented with opportunities to make said choices? That is the Universe lending you a hand in your manifesting, so even if the situations themselves aren’t exactly wanted, they are just what you need, and are ultimately, to your benefit.

Don’t Over-Analzye or Set Out to Create Some ‘Perfect’ Existence

Now that you know your whole external experience is a mirror of your vibration, there may be a tendency to start analyzing every aspect of your life. You’ll try to figure out what caused every unwanted experience in your waking hours. What was in my vibration that made me stub my toe or drop that ketchup bottle and get it all over the floor? What did I do to attract that rude cashier or get stuck behind that car driving painfully slow?

Once you start working with LOA, you will certainly notice that even little annoying things that used to happen to you may not happen as frequently anymore. When you are really vibing high on a particular day, it can feel like you are wrapped in a bubble of awesomeness where not even the slightest annoyance can touch you. It is pretty great.

And, there may be this desire to go about creating some perfect existence devoid of even the most minor of inconveniences. Is this possible? Yeah, I imagine it may be. But, with so much stuff in our vibration, our imperfect human nature where we are prone to all sorts of emotions, and what have you, I don’t know if there are too many people like that.

You don’t need life to be ‘perfect’ for it to be great. You may still have unwanted situations as you work through bigger beliefs that impact various areas of your life. There may be certain beliefs or fears that you may not ever shake fully, and from time to time, you may manifest something to reflect that—it isn’t the end of the world. You’ll be having a really bad day where negative emotions are running high, and it will probably lead to some stuff happening that you won’t like.

Just focus on letting in the manifestations that mean the most to you, like the relationship, better job, more clients, more money or your dream business becoming successful. Pay attention to the situations that are particularly upsetting and produce similar types of negative feelings over and over—these represent a bigger limiting belief that you want to work on shifting.

Don’t put pressure on yourself to create a perfect existence. Don’t get all mad at yourself when you experience something unwanted because it means there is still something ‘wrong’ with you. As an ‘imperfect’ human, you will have an ‘imperfect’ vibration and shit will happen sometimes. It’s all good.

In Closing..

As you consciously work with your energy, it is important you start paying more attention to what is happening in your day to day life, because doing so will allow you to see all the awesome ways in which you are deliberately shaping your experience. Some things may seem kind of small, or not that big of a deal, but they are because the process of attraction is the same no matter what we want, and these experiences show you that you are making progress.

Don’t dismiss these manifestations. They let you know this stuff is real, and not to give up on it. It gives you the boost you need to keep doing the work, and it builds your trust in the process, and the more you trust it, the easier it becomes to manifest things. Increased trust alone is very powerful for raising our vibration and clearing out junk without paying it mind specifically.

  1. I’ve been very engaged with LOA for the past year myself. I’ve had things pretty well for a long time now, but it has accelerated my success and deepened my life enjoyment. One thing I want to highlight is that sometimes it pays to get off the topic entirely instead of trying to find something positive to think about on it. Positive thoughts and feelings on any subject brings us what we want on all subjects. So if you’re forcing it on “love life,” but zipping along in your work area, focus on how much you enjoy your work and hold the expectation that the love life thing is being taken care of for you. And vice versa. Just focus on what brings you joy and trust that something greater than yourself knows what you want in other areas and will be bringing it to you every single moment you are enjoying anything.

When we focus on things we are happy about, that raises our energy overall, and we can start to see changes in all areas of our life, not just where we are putting our focus.     This post is wonderful and it all resonates with me. I think your perspectives are extremely helpful, being such a great living example of the practice. I loved what you said about our feelings being just as important as anyone else’s. I was just talking with a friend about just that. Being someone who used to (and honestly, I still do from time to time) put everyone else’s feelings before mine, I noticed that he was doing it. I told him that we can’t truly be there for anyone else, unless we have tended to our own energy first.

    I also really enjoyed the part about not trying to create the perfect existence. It is true that we will be blown over by things. Whether it be a circumstance or even hormones running weird one day, shit does happen. I would add to that and say that we must remember that we are strong manifestors living on a planet with over 6 billion other manifestors. We are all co creating a reality and just as we can be aware of the energy we are sending others, we must be aware that others are sending energy our way. Sometimes great things happen because we have had favorable energy sent our way from others, and sometimes crrappy things happen because of external energy. This is something we can protect ourselves from but isn’t in our control. I see it as an impact of sharing this world together. Some of us are more and less aware, and that’s something we can accept and work with.

      Thanks so much for your comment and I am so glad you enjoyed the post. You make an excellent point about us not being of optimal benefit to others if we are neglecting ourselves. Taking care of our own needs is something that is given a lot of lip service, but far too many people still don’t actually take steps to do this, and it has far-reaching consequences not just for the person, but ‘society’ as a whole. It can be uncomfortable at first as we are not accustomed to it, and there is always that fear of others thinking we are ‘selfish.’ But, we can start taking baby steps and doing that which feels the least uncomfortable and work up from there.

      You are right about us being able to be affected by other people’s energy, but I would like to add something that I think people will find helpful. Other people’s energy can only affect us in so far as we let it, and any situation we experience that may have been influenced by the energy of a large group of people, is still a personal manifestation. For example, a bad economy will cause financial hardship for many people, but anyone affected personally was so because there were feelings and beliefs within themselves that caused issues with their business to manifest. People that weren’t a match to that type of situation wouldn’t experience that, and they would be fine, no matter what was happening on a larger scale. Remembering this can help people feel more in control when they start to develop a worry that other people and outside situations will ‘mess things up’ for them.

      And I always like to remind people that this is not about blaming ourselves for negative manifestations of course–the attraction process is not about getting punished for negative beliefs and rewarded for good ones, it is just a neutral force that reflects things back to us, and to me, makes the most sense as far as explaining why things happen to people, both wanted and unwanted.

      It means so much to me to hear that I am helping you in your own journey–that was my whole reason for starting this blog!

  3. Lately I’ve been watching Oprah’s videos on Youtube and her focus is on intentions and living in the now. Being intentional is important. Thanks for writing a thought provoking and motivating post about energy. We should really be more aware of that.

You are so right about being intentional-without setting clear intentions for what we want and who we want to be, it is easy to get swept up by life, and just let things happen to us. That is never a good place to be because it makes us feel like we have no control over our experience. That awareness of what is happening inside and how it impacts our experience is life-changing for sure. Just keep taking in that information that makes you think and empowers you, and amazing things can happen.

  5. I love your articles! They really speak to me. I have been practicing LOA for a while now, especially with the work that I do, and I must say that I have been seeing miracles happen in my life time and time again. The most times that I have seen LOA work for me has happened when I set the intention, then let go and even forgot about it. I sometimes look back at my vision board, and it am in awe at all the little manifestations that have occurred! But I’m still sometimes putting intentions on hold, because of my thoughts, and wondering if these intentions are really what I want, or what is the safe path. But I really do see little miracles every day! I am a new follower for sure:) Happy Holidays!

Isn’t it amazing how the best stuff happens when we aren’t even thinking about it…makes sense as we really can’t cultivate strong resistance around something if we are not even paying it much attention. We placed our order, and didnt engage in anything to delay it, and boom..there it is! That is smart you are giving some thought to what it is you really want..when we figure that out, our manifestations come much more easily because we are not putting up any blocks that come from not actually wanting what we think we want.
