Law of Attraction: 3 Reasons ‘Nothing’ Is Changing

 

I have been practicing law of attraction for X amount of time and NOTHING has changed! This whole concept is a bunch of bullshit. Sound familiar? If so, don’t worry, you’re not alone.

Discovering how our reality is truly created and that we have this amazing ability to align with what we want simply by harmonizing our thoughts, feelings and beliefs in a way that supports getting it, is literally life-changing.

This knowledge completely changes how you move through the world, and consciously working with your energy will impact every corner of your existence for the better.

And we get super-excited that things don’t have to suck anymore. The idea we don’t have to rely on any outside circumstance to get what we want is empowering.

So, we start doing all our exercises, reading books and what have you, ready to welcome our brand new life and make all our dreams come true.

And when nothing seems to be changing, talk about a let down. It is one thing to mope around because your life sucks but you really don’t think you can do anything about it.

It is completely another to allow yourself to imagine the possibilities with a sense of hope and then ‘fail’ miserably at allowing them into your reality. That shit hurts…a lot.

Notice the fail was in quotations…you are not failing. You can’t fail at this—we are designed to create our own reality, it’s built into our being. Perhaps you are flailing a bit at the moment, but that can always be turned around.

If you are one of those people who is currently lamenting nothing seems to be happening, I know what it’s like. It’s frustrating as hell.

But the good news is, it’s not because the Universe is against you or because law of attraction is not a real thing and something just delusional people believe in. It’s real alright and it’s always working. It’s the most powerful law in the Universe.

It’s all you baby…and I don’t say that with a hint of blame. This is a whole new way of operating, and is not something that can be mastered overnight.

So, if ‘nothing’ seems to be changing for you, here are a few reasons why…

Good Old Fashioned Stubbornness

For most of you, this is probably the biggest culprit, and there is a good chance you will deny it…you simply refuse to truly feel good (or at least better) much of the time because you are still insistent on basing how you feel on how your life currently looks.

And even the most wet-behind-the-ears LOA enthusiast knows the key to changing your reality is taking your focus off what is and feeling shitty about it, and putting it towards what you would prefer, and feeling all warm and fuzzy, and therefore attracting more things to feel all warm and fuzzy about.

In theory it is easy, in practice, it can be challenging. You are so used to basing how you feel on what is happening outside of you and complaining about what you don’t like.

Yes, obviously it is easy to feel better when things are more to our liking. We have preferences and it is perfectly fine. The sense of contrast is what helps us figure out what we want.

It is easier to feel better when you have enough money to pay your bills than when you don’t.

It is easier to feel better when you have a wonderful boyfriend than being single and hating it.

It is easier to feel better when you get to spend eight hours a day doing a job you like than one you don’t.

It is easier to feel better when your have a steady flow of clients and sales than when things are stagnant.

It is easier to feel better when your family is supportive of you and your path, and not critical.

I’m not going to argue with you on that.

The problem is, though, if you keep using this as a justification for feeling badly, you are fucked big time, pardon my French.

You may not be able to feel good every second…it’s cool. We all have our moments. It is important to be honest with how we are feeling and let ourselves express our negative emotion.

I am not advocating you go into complete denial and just try to ‘get happy’ no matter what is happening around you, and push down all the crappy feelings, fears and the like.

But, you have to realize that at some point, something has got to give.

You have to work on building momentum behind the beliefs, feelings and thoughts that are in harmony with what you want, and flowing some good energy towards the things you want.

Just wanting what you want is a good first step but it is not enough. You have to become a match to it, and that can’t happen if you spent more of your time focusing on your present reality and all the things you don’t like in it. It can’t happen if you keep pointing to all the reasons you are entitled to feel like crap.

Many Manifestations Just Can’t Fall into Your Lap…Aligning with Them is a Process

There is a lot of misunderstanding about how law of attraction works, and one of the big misconceptions is that it is basically like magic where what you want just appears because you thought about it.

But, that is not how it really works. Technically we could manifest a lot of things that easily but that would likely require dropping like every limiting belief we hold and having not a shred of doubt in the process.

Of course in many cases, things can happen very easily and what we want in its full form does make its way in relatively quickly.

But, many of the things we want really won’t happen that way.

You probably won’t be booked solid with clients within the first three days of opening your business.

If you have a severe poverty consciousness, you probably won’t automatically transition to a level of vibration that would allow you to make millions of dollars without any stops in between.

If you have a lot of resistance around a particular manifestation, there has to be some clearing done, and as you shift your energy, you will move closer to allowing this thing into your life.

So, if you are like many people, there is a good chance you have made some shifts but you don’t even realize it because the exact thing you want still has not shown up.

You have probably manifested all sorts of little signs that your vibration was changing but they were either totally dismissed because they were something small or you didn’t even see them because you didn’t know that was what they were.

And when we miss or dismiss all these types of manifestations, and still are just focusing on the lack of the ‘end result’ we screw with our energy and what we want gets delayed even further—we are still stuck in ‘what is.’

Let’s say that you have had a lot of blocks around manifesting a relationship because you are overweight and you feel like you can’t get a boyfriend because you believe you are unattractive.

You start making some shifts and feeling better about yourself. You start feeling more optimistic that a relationship is indeed possible for you.

Some possible signs that show you are aligning with your dream man include one of your overweight friends telling you how she met this great guy, noticing more frequently people of all shapes, sizes and levels of ‘attractiveness’ paired up quite happily, or all of a sudden getting complimented more often on your hair, clothes, eyes or whatever, leading you to believe that perhaps you are not disgusting and unlovable after all.

You’re Doing All the ‘Work’ But Nothing is Really Shifting

We are very oriented towards actions and we are always wanting to know what we need to ‘do’ to make changes in our life and to manifest what we want. And sure, we will take all sorts of actions.

Things like affirmations, writing out what you want in your life as if it is already yours, making vision boards, visualizing and the like, are great tools for focusing on what you want and helping you build some positive momentum.

In the moments we are using these tools and techniques, we are giving ourselves permission to feel good. In these moments, there is not as much focus on what is currently, and that helps weaken the negativity that has been building for such a long time.

And because we are used to the paradigm of achieving a result through action, we believe that all this ‘work’ is what is going to help us manifest what we want. We are putting in the effort and we expect to bear fruit. We are trying and doing all the things various LOA teachers told us we need to do to manifest.

But you have to remember that creating our reality deliberately and with greater ease and joy is something that is done on the level of feeling. It is not something done on the level of intellect and action. Our tendency to intellectualize this process is what makes us obsessed with the tools and techniques, and the ‘doing.’

Again, they are usually necessary at times because we need something to help us redirect our focus. We can technically just start feeling better without any assistance, but that can be hard.

But, you have to remember they are a means to an end…in and of themselves, they can do absolutely nothing to change your reality. They are useful because they help create those inner shifts—that is what is determining what you are manifesting.

So if you are one of those people who feels frustrated because you are ‘trying so hard’ by diligently performing all your rituals and using various tools, you have to stop and think if all of this ‘work’ has actually produced any real shift in what you are predominantly thinking, feeling and believing.

When you are engaged in these tools and techniques, is there true genuine positive emotion that is being evoked or does it feel like you are going through the motions?

Can you honestly say that you are actually starting to feel better more of the time, and are less focused on your present reality? Can you honestly say the more positive beliefs have grown stronger?

You have to remember you are dealing with a force that is simply operating in a manner of input and output, and brings you things that are a match to your energy field in some way.

This is not some big man in the sky that is keeping tabs on you, and deciding which experiences you can and cannot have, that is judging you worthy or unworthy, or can decide to give you something because you are a good person who is trying really hard.

What you do only matters insofar as how these actions are making you feel, and whether they are assisting you in aligning your energy with what you want.

In Closing…

I know these barriers can be really frustrating because the concept of law of attraction is so freaking simple and straightforward. We just think we can just decide we want something and we’ll get it…if we had no resistance, that would pretty much be all we had to do. We would always be working from a place of inspiration and it would be delicious the whole way.

But we do have resistance and that slows things down, and we just have to accept that. But, that doesn’t mean the process has to suck ass the whole time and we have to suffer while working through this resistance.

It may not always feel great, but it also doesn’t have to be rife with mental anguish. Luckily any shift in energy can bring changes to our outside experience so you can start getting some good stuff without having completely worked through all your shit…thank God for that right?

  1. The shift and work note is telling KC because few think if their rituals make them feel good.

    Example; I ceased checking in daily to respond to comments through my backoffice. Bogs things down and makes me feel annoyed or stressed. So I check in once every week or 2 by scrolling through my last 5 posts or so and respond via the post itself, on the front end. Felt wonderful. And…..GASP! I broke a ritual to do it 😉

    One of my biggest issues as this point has been wondering “when” too much. I love how as you continue on this journey, everything seems to pop up just when it needs to. I’ve done all the work and I’m taking action steps to change my reality and I see lots of small shifts and I’m acknowledging them. But recently I got a sort of “nudge” through a Facebook post that I was still asking “when”. When? When? When? LOL! I wasn’t really even aware that I was doing it. But you are so right, you won’t get clients the first few days and sometimes even weeks or months – depending on your resistance – when you open up a new business, so we just have to learn to be patient just a bit longer. Sometimes we have to remind ourselves that giving up isn’t the same thing as letting go and allowing. 🙂

Don’t feel too badly about that one…we just can’t help but wonder when all our stuff is going to show up! You are so right in that we are often not aware of when we may be focusing on what isnt serving us, outcomes, expectations and the like. It can be more subtle at times and then all of a sudden it hits us like a ton of bricks and we’re like oh shit…I haven’t been aligned as I thought. Thanks for your thoughts!

      1. Thank you Kelli. Yeah I just wasn’t really feeling the old blog, so I took a step back for a while to figure out what I REALLY want to do. This new path: Holy crap!!! Everything seems to be falling in my lap at the perfect time and I’m getting answers just as I need them like nobody’s business. LOL! Before it felt kind of forced, like “I SHOULD be doing something”. But now, it feels like true authentic play. I’m really excited!!! 😀

I’ve been manifesting encouraging situations but I’ve been frustrated over the last few days because I’m still waiting for the big demonstrations and I expect them now! Well, I know it doesn’t always work that way and I need to keep focusing on what I want and not on where is it? When I saw your email in my inbox this morning, I recognized it as a direct answer to my question. So I’m going out to have a fun day today and I’m keeping my mind focused on all my great blessings. It is hard to keep it up energetically when we are still not experiencing exactly what we want but really remembering those smaller manifestations are showing us we are moving in the right direction can do wonders. You keep doing all that feel good stuff and you will be amazed at what can start happening!

      Glad you found it too! You are right that we must keep moving and keep our intentions in mind. The one thing I would suggest is examining your feelings of frustration and what is coming up exactly as well as examine the actions you are taking and how you are feeling about the way you are going about getting whatever it is you want. You may discover there are some elements that are compounding the negative feelings that you may want to modify.

    I have some questions related to manifestation process.
    Only trying to feel good in general is not enough realistically, right?
    But sometimes people say that I shouldn’t focus too much about the relationship or money whatever I want to manifest, just simply feel good by doing things that I want.

    So I have a question.
    1. At first, vibrations is thoughts + feelings? So that’s why people say to improve our overall vibration, sometimes we can focus on feelings and try to feel good by listening to music or laughing with friends? I’m wondering if we don’t necessarily have to deal with thoughts directly like limiting beliefs around some subject.
    I assume that’s because it could be the other way around like feelings also generate vibrations that can affect thoughts so they can help us think more positively?

      Only feeling good about what we want and having no conflicting energy around it truly is enough but the thing is…1. We don’t buy into that fully

      2. We have resistance that we need to work on. We have trouble not thinking about the things we want because they are really important to us and noticing their absence creates more resistance.

      3. We are very oriented towards action to make things happen, and this idea of creating simply through thought, feeling and belief seems silly. But most times, people will take plenty of actions to get what they want, but they will be from a place of inspiration and believing they can have what they want and there is a lot of leverage behind inspired action. What is removed from the equation when we are more aligned is the action taken from a place of fear, force and doubt. You experience a lot more manifestations that didn’t involve any specific action…for example, striking up a random conversation with someone at the coffee shop, you start talking business and she says she knows like 10 people who could use that and she refers you all these new clients.

      Raising our overall vibration is very helpful because our predominant energy will determine what we attract into our life so as your energy changes your point of attraction changes. So you can manifest all sorts of things without having given them any special ‘attention. When we start seeing more ‘proof’that LOA is real, that naturally weakens many beliefs because we just now know they aren’t true and we can shift them more easily. But some beliefs are much stronger and we usually have to do some work on them individually. And since thoughts are manifestations of our energy, feeling better will naturally attract better feeling thoughts.

  6. I state my desire and then just throw it out there and forget about it. I get back to living in the here and now.

    I know instantly from my detachment whether it will come or not. Also whether I am embracing the uncertainty of it. If any of those two exists, then I know I have some work to do behind the scenes.

      I love that tactic…so much happens when we just put it out there and don’t really think about it. That you are so in tune with your inner world is a huge benefit in doing this work.

      You are right that it can be challenging. The idea we have that much power is a very new one and we have been operating under a very different paradigm. It is a process for sure but we just have to take it step by step.

  7. I loved reading this post. I wanted to ask: can you break this down into a smaller step for me? I feel like everything has always gone badly for me so it’s very difficult to imagine anything else. How can I start to change these thoughts? I’m so down it’s really unbearable.

      I’m glad you found it helpful. There really aren’t ‘steps’ and a ‘how’ as the mind sees it–it views everything as action-based. The first ‘step’ would be recognizing the energy came first and then the manifestations. This is so crucial and seems so simple but we forget since our mind does it the opposite–it bases our beliefs on what has happened and then we keep manifesting things that reflect them and this proves them ‘true’ This keeps us stuck in not being able to look beyond our current circumstances. And the second key is recognizing your circumstances aren’t causing the feelings–they are triggering certain stories and the like that the mind has weaved around them…it’s all coming from inside. Dealing with your feelings and emotional healing must be prioritized over simply trying to change circumstances and ‘attract’ what you don’t have–you will start feeling better immediately and you are working on the level of ’cause’ so your outside will have no choice but to transform as well but what that will all look like is anyone’s guess and you have to be open.

  8. Hi Kelli, you make me laugh with your raw language!!Its soo true..we make it harder than it has to be..im getting pretty good at being thankful and enjoying the moment. I love doing the 55×5. This works for me. Plus i have a couple meditations i listen to. Other than that..my life goes on. Not to worried about it.
    The biggest thing people get hung up on is WHEN. I heard Ed Lester say” its like a little girl running in the garden, trying to catch a butterfly. Finally she became tired and sat down on a bench. Before you knew it, the butterfly landed on her shoulder.
    So…thats my take on LOA. Relax and enjoy the unfolding

      Thanks so much for your comment and glad you enjoy that…I tend to curse when talking about things about which I feel passionate! That’s great you have a technique that works well for you and helps focus your energy in a positive way–that is the key thing to look for when engaging with things like that or they’re not serving their purpose. I really like that analogy and it’s so true. That is one of the reasons why it’s so important to remember it’s not the ‘thing’ we’re really after, but the feelings. This takes care of so many issues that mess with our energy, such as always being on the lookout for where it is .Sounds like your energy game is tight and you’re doing great!
