I have a question about consistency. I really love to be more stable and consistent.
What are your tips and tricks for staying more consistent?
If our energy is the root of what shows up in our life, in order to get more wanted experiences and less of the ones we don’t, the energy that lends itself to the good stuff must be dominant. In order to ‘edge out’ the energies not serving us, we have to build some momentum behind the energies that do serve us so the former don’t have as much sway over our reality.
That delicious high vibration that makes us a magnet to all sorts of awesomeness is already within, and you have probably already accessed it at points.
But because this energy may be far from where we are currently, staying there can be a challenge. There is no momentum; the beliefs and perspectives that match that energy may seem very foreign.
So changing our energy is usually a process that unfolds gradually, though want to stress something–this doesn’t mean things have to take a long time, or that it will be a slow-going process.
And here is the part where I include the familiar ‘disclaimer’ that often accompanies these posts:
This, like many of the other questions our mind has about the law of attraction, can’t be answered in the way our mind wants it answered. It always wants to know what we can ‘do’ and while there are certainly actions that can assist us in shifting our energy, no action will ever override or shift said energy, independent of our willingness to release what isn’t serving us, and focus in ways that will benefit us. It’s truly an inside game if there ever was one.
So, you can find some ‘tips’ here but not any ‘tricks’ 😉
Don’t Go Too Far Too Fast
If the aim is stability and consistency, you have to take a more ‘realistic’ approach to your energetic transformation.
So many people enter this ‘work’ in a really low place–they are depressed, anxious, hate their lives, hate themselves, processing serious emotional traumas with varying degrees of ‘success’, in deep denial about their lives and feelings, things are falling apart, nothing is going right and has not gone right in a long time, and so on and so forth.
When you get wind of the idea you create your own reality by way of the contents of your inner world, there is this pressure to inhabit a new of being and thinking that is drastically different; you are trying to adopt beliefs that can seem pretty radical, beliefs for which you have little to no evidence in your own life.
When you first read about this teaching, and something resonates, it can be very powerful energetically. You connect with a powerful vibration, a knowing that has always been there, and it feels really good. You feel a sense of hope that things can get better, and again, it feels really good.
And then we expect to stay in this space from that moment on, waiting with bated breath for our ‘stuff.’
But this energy, this level of vibration, is very new, very unfamiliar. We are not used to feeling like this, especially for no ‘reason’ and barring manifestations to keep feeding it, it probably won’t stick around too long.
Beliefs that sound nice, that you want to believe, that intuitively feel true may also be very foreign to you, may be beliefs for which you have little to no evidence in your own life. So, our embracing of them is largely intellectual at first, and it can take time for them to truly become our own.
We actually don’t know if we believe these things yet, but feel pressure to do so because we think we have to to get what we want, and we basically go into denial about how we are really feeling and thinking.
There is a lot of emotional ‘debris’ that needs to be dealt with. While we can technically just decide to reach for the enlightened perspectives that serve us really well, and bypass all the shit, it probably won’t happen.
We have anger towards people that have hurt us. We blame others for the unwanted in our life. We feel victimized in a variety of ways. We have issues with self-esteem, self-sabotage, worthiness and deserving.
If you try too hard to achieve a level of happiness that just isn’t natural for you, to adopt perspectives that are really different from how you have thought your whole life, it is going to feel really exhausting. You’ll just give up, much like you would after pushing yourself into really intense exercise after not having worked out in a decade. It just isn’t sustainable.
Being happier and feeling better isn’t supposed to be hard, arduous work. The only reason it feels that way is because we are pushing against all the resistance that has been there for a really long time; we don’t want to push against it, we want to lean into it and process it. It’s not the end of the world, believe me.
This clears a path to the more ‘manifesting-friendly’ emotions, this makes room for them, and they can take root more easily. There is less effort to ‘make’ them happen.
So honor where you are now and start from there. The shifts might be smaller, but they will be real, and you will see real changes in your experience and how you are feeling.
You can’t trick the Universe; you can’t ‘hide’ energy.
And no matter where you are in your journey, remember you are human and will likely continue to experience the full range of emotions, have bad days, etc… Not the end of the world so just be with it when it happens and it will actually pass more quickly that way. Sucks I know, but it just is what it is.
Are You Truly Willing to Look Beyond What Is?
If you can’t answer this question with a honest, sincere ‘yes’ just forget you ever learned anything about conscious creation, because this life-changing knowledge will be of little use to you.
An inability to look beyond our current reality–which is merely the mirror of whatever energies have been dominant to this point and NOTHING more–is the biggest barrier to being able to remain in a more positive energy more of the time, to keep building on it.
We start feeling better, we may see some movement in the form of ‘stepping-stone’ manifestations, but then we go right back to looking at ‘what is’ and letting it dictate how we feel, pointing to it as ‘proof’ all the shitty things we believe are true.
Things aren’t happening the way our mind wants them to, on the time frames it wants them to, and what have you, and we throw a hissy fit the Universe isn’t giving us what we want and the law of attraction doesn’t ‘work.’
Making peace with where you are now, and a willingness to no longer let outside circumstances dictate your inner workings, is crucial. Energetic transformation in any real, meaningful way is impossible otherwise. No two ways about it.
The energy comes first, and then the manifestations. The Universe is not responding to your ‘wanting.’ It is not responding to your dislike of your current circumstances. It is responding to your dominant beliefs, feelings and thoughts, in a neutral, non-judgmental way. Input and output.
This doesn’t mean denying your negative feelings; this doesn’t mean trying to put some positive spin on things that just outright suck and you don’t like.
This doesn’t mean basking in gratitude for the all the lessons and blessings being presented to you in the form of these challenges, and embracing them with open arms.
But what it does mean is you must be willing to stop living outside in, to feel better–just better–without needing anything to change first.
Make Feeling Good the Goal
You were drawn to this teaching because there are specific changes you wish to see in your life. You are lacking certain things and you want them.
Your motivations for doing the ‘work’ of conscious creation and personal development in general is not just to be happy for the sake of being happy, to heal your energetic ‘wounds,’ strengthen your connection to spirit and become emotionally healthier.
You want ‘stuff’ and it’s cool. The core things we want–money, relationships, work we enjoy–are totally natural and understandable, and there is no reason to be lacking any of them. I don’t imagine there are many people who don’t desire any of these things.
But, this doesn’t change the fact when we work on generating positive emotion merely as a means to an end, to get the stuff our mind wants, it will cause us a lot of frustration. It will slow down our receiving considerably.
It is totally possible to still want all those things without making acquiring them the main driver of your efforts to feel better and make these inner transformations. I know it doesn’t seem that way, but it’s really true.
When the positive emotion is merely a ‘tool’ to get something, a means to an end, it is very hard to maintain because when a ‘mean’ doesn’t seem to be achieving the ‘end’’ our mind is not so keen to keep employing said ‘mean.’
When the positive emotion is not the goal in and of itself, its own reward, it will never take root in your energy in any real way, and will always be fleeting.
You will continue to remain trapped in the vicious cycle of letting your circumstances dictate how you feel, and as we discussed before, this mode of operating is not compatible with deliberate creation.
You will only be able to feel good when something happens your mind decides allows for the feeling, and the energy that led to whatever is unwanted in your life now will continue to remain dominant, and things won’t change in any big way.
Do your best to focus on the energy, not the manifestations so intently. You will start getting what you truly want a hell of a lot sooner–to feel better–and know what else? All the ‘stuff’ will come anyway. How great is that?
Prioritize Your Well-Being
Successfully making energetic shifts in a way where ‘positive’ energy and outlooks are more natural, more the ‘default,’ takes many forms, and it is something that will take conscious effort.
With so much programming running so deep we don’t even notice it anymore, consistent engagement with our energy is important to root it out. Without this deliberate ‘effort’ the old ways will just continue to rule our lives.
Consistent doesn’t mean constant however, and you don’t want to turn it into some sort of ‘chore’ nor do you want to obsessively monitor how you are feeling every moment. This will not help, trust me.
You can accomplish this with meditation, quiet time, establishing a morning ritual that can get you off to a good start for the day, affirmations, a gratitude list, tapping, scripting.
No one approach is more effective or ‘better’. It is a matter of personal resonance. If it makes you feel good, it is a good tool for you.
You will also likely need to make some changes in the department of your habits, behaviors and choices.
If your life is not to your liking now, something, or likely many ‘somethings’ needs to change.
Maybe it is exercising more or changing your diet. Maybe it is making more time for yourself. Maybe it is managing your stress better. Maybe it is finding more time for your hobbies. Maybe it is scaling back on commitments.
If these transformations are important to you, if you truly want these things you say you want, you’ll make your well-being a priority, you’ll make your energy a priority.
These changes won’t be things you’re trying to squeeze in-between all the shit you don’t want to be doing;you will build your day around making sure you are able to incorporate them, they will be the foundation.
Now that you have a better understanding of the role your energy has in shaping your life, you see the importance of not just focusing positively in the specific areas of your life in which you want to see change, but more general vibrational management in the form of how you conduct your life day to day.
This might not always be easy, but don’t let your mind convince you that is a valid excuse not to do these things. It seems to think it is perfectly reasonable to not make these changes in our life because they are hard, too uncomfortable, other people won’t like it, our parents don’t agree, etc…. But this is just bullshit plain and simple.

This post hit home – on this day- in so many ways. I am currently in Costa Rica for an now very extended time due to Irma. At first i was so anxious, mad, frustrated, etc. then I realized that a) I was letting my friends anxiety / view on life/ etc “infect” me and 2) This extra time IS the actual vacation I needed. I found a peaceful rooftop garden and took a moment to actually look at the beauty around d me and then my mind stated to clear and focus shifted to. Gratitude , calm and possibilities. It’s like I stopped “doing” and just accepted the moment. Yes, my stuff is still here but I can see it in a much clearer light. And I realized I have a lot to be thankful for in my life. Thank you.
Hi Michelle
Thanks for your comment and sharing your experience. It sounds like you are making the most of your time there and turned it into a positive. As a traveler, I get the frustrations of delays, plans getting messed up,etc…so I feel you on that. Costa Rica is wonderful and not too shabby of a place to be stranded! Isn’t it great how we have that power to look at a situation in basically any way we choose? Great freedom there.
Hi Kelli!
I so enjoy when you talk about prioritizing our well-being and our energies. And as you mentioned, “consistent doesn’t mean constant however,”. Even if the energy change is slow-going, that in itself makes such a difference and creates a momentum of feeling better more often than not. The one tool that helps my brain “chatter” is daydreaming about things I want and make me feel good. That helps to break down whatever resistance I have in the moment. What I’ve realized though, and it’s important to note (and you have mentioned it many times), if you have resistance on anything you want, it might not help to daydream about it since it might exacerbate the fact that you don’t have it yet. The way to true lasting change is the inner work, and if escaping from your worries – like imagining yourself lying on a beach somewhere – helps to at least curtail any angst, it’s certainly worth a try and I think could help with the consistency. But as you said, whatever form that takes is personal to the individual.
Thanks for another great post!
Letty
Hi Letty
Thanks so much for your comment and great insights as always. Daydreaming and visualizing can be really great because really strong energies can be activated, and the pictures don’t really matter too much because it is all about the feeling. And you are right, if a lot of resistance gets activated, it can be good to stop thinking about it.
Hi Kelli,
Thanks a lot for this blog.
Before I knew about the Law of Attraction I used to see things as ‘Signs’.
Whenever something happened I knew life was showing me something, like it was meant to be this way.
I always thought there was more to life.
I was amazed when a few years ago I found out about the Law of Attraction.
I knew something existed but I just didn’t knew exactly how and what.
It’s kind of crazy knowing that I knew sort of a part of it without ever reading/hearing about it before.
We know/feel more than we think we do.
Before I found your blog I’ve been at many more blogs/book etcera.
But to me you are the one that explains everything inside out, not in big lines, but every detail you give to us.
Even just your intro pictures of your blogs/podcasts are a boost.
You are definitely a great inspiration!!
By the way, I’ve looked at the donation page.
There is only a way to donate in dollars.
Is there a way to donate in Euro’s?
Maybe that could be a new addition?
Through bank or credit card if possible?
Thanks for all the time and energy you give, into sharing all this information.
Greetings,
Marcel
Hi Marcel
Thanks so much for your comment and thanks for asking a great question! I know you are not the only one wondering how to do that! I am so glad you have found my site a helpful resource for you. The LOA is a very simple teaching but I think it is easy to get frustrated when we can’t seem to apply it, and I hope to fill in some of those missing pieces of the puzzle. As for the donation, first, thanks for wanting to support my work and second, the payment system I use is the same for all my products and I have people purchase them from all over the world so even though the payment is in USD, it should get processed on your credit/bank in your currency and you should not have any issues.
Hi Kelli
I am new to the law of attraction in that it has been a couple of weeks since I have been trying to apply it. But I have known this concept for a couple of months but really didn’t feel the need to believe it. I am going to be completely honest and say that I chose to believe it due to desperation ( coming in from a REALLY bad place).
Currently I wish to manifest what would be a tangible change in my physical circumstances.
Before I came to your blog and read about the role of energy, I only focused on thought and my attempts for the couple past weeks have been as follows:
1. first I just thought I just need to keep focused on the picture of what I want.
That ended up being a tug of war between my mind and myself and learnt
that ‘thought suppression’ really doesn’t work.
2. Then I tried simply focusing on the moment , being engaged in whatever I
was doing while consciously believing that I will still manifest whatever it is
that I desire. Still didn’t work because I kept getting the feeling as if I was
holding my back against a door to keep everything form falling into a room
that I was struggling to keep sight of.
3. And finally yesterday I was too overwhelmed and ALMOST completely gave
in to the feeling that I may be one of those people who are genetically
programmed to just slug it out and be neurotic. But when I read this post I think I actually came to a realization:
you see , prior to reading your post all I had been doing was constantly focusing and reminding myself of what I want. And I had been doing this for two weeks with mounting frustration and since I am very visual thinker, negative thoughts can be pretty visual and pressing.
So I decided to re frame my goals here:
I told myself that for two weeks hence I will focus on being happier in the moment while carrying out my affirmations during specific times of the day.
Is this the right approach because when I ask myself how can I be happy now I get images of involving my current physical circumstances but in a more positive atmosphere. But if I am feeling good about what I have now aren’t I telling myself I don’t need any of whatever it is that I am trying to manifest. I just cant seem to “feel good” while imagining what I want because I immediately realize the lack of it.
So am I on the right path here, if not what would you recommend? I mean is this LOA concept really for everyone or should I accept that its not and move on?
Hi Hez
The thing that sticks out to me most with your comment is that a major source of your ‘troubles’ now is not dealing with the negative emotion and limiting beliefs you are likely experiencing. It is easy to gloss over all of that, and work on ‘trying’ to manifest what we want by forcing positivity, doing tools without really shifting energy, etc… The only reason we want to manifest something so badly is because we are probably feeling badly without it, we feel really attached, etc…and that energy can clog things up if you will. So we have to examine that a bit more deeply because that is what is really making us feel badly, not really the lack of the thing. Your last sentence speaks to another major issue you are probably having–viewing the law of attraction as a tool you ‘use’ to make things happen rather than a Universal law that has always been operating in your life. The power of this knowledge is not trying to manipulate reality with the ‘power’ of your mind but realizing it is your inner world that is creating the outer, paying more attention to what you are thinking, feeling and believing, and being more deliberate in your focus and what you want to create in your life.
Hi Kelli,
So often your posts are exactly the pick-me-up I need when I’m struggling. Thanks for more really insightful information. I am wondering how you reconcile the concept of “leaning in” to your resistance, rather than fighting it, while at the same time choosing to feel better? I don’t want to pile pseudo-positive feelings on top of my negative ones, but how do I acknowledge the negative ones without getting caught up in self-pity, frustration, or the like?
Also, I’m glad the poster above mentioned donating to your blog. Your website has been so helpful to me over the past few months and I’m sure it’s a valuable resource for others as well. I’d be happy to help support your work.
Hi Jazzy
Thanks for your comment and I am glad you enjoyed the post. There are a couple of things I would say about processing emotion while still feeling better.
1. Letting our feelings out diminishes their power, and when they aren’t so strong, it is easier to feel better because you are not fighting against the feelings so much. Think about any time you may have had a good cry and you felt a lot better afterwards. The releasing of the emotion was directly related to the improvement in mood.
2. Our intentions are powerful. When we allow ourselves to feel our feelings with the intention of healing and processing, and working towards being in a more positive frame of mind more of the time, this will create a very different experience than when we are just feeling our negative feelings, thinking there isn’t anything we can do about our life, blaming outside circumstances, etc…
3. When we first start doing this, you may feel things like self-pity, anger, resentment. This is actually okay because it means we are being honest with how we are feeling, and that is an important first step. If we try to reach for an enlightened perspective when we really aren’t there quite yet, it can shut things down and we don’t want to do that. And this goes back to my second point about intention, and no matter what you are feeling, with that healing intention, that is what you will move towards, even if the emotions may not feel differently than when you were just feeling badly and thinking that was it.
Thanks for this response! I like what you said about intention when we’re working through our negative feelings – that made a lot of sense to me. It looks like the podcast you just put up offers more clarification on this topic. I’ll give it a listen!
You are very welcome!
Hey Kelli,
I came by to say howdy and this post blew me away. Years ago, (in another life) I was doing what I was “supposed” to do. But that didn’t last long because some kind of energy was pulling at me to express myself in my own way. Ergo…many offline businesses I had created as I grew.
When we are in touch with the pure energy around us, our positive thoughts can bring manifestation. It cannot be forced, but rather come from a deep place in our hearts.
The journey is one that never ends because it only gets better.
I like “Make Feel Good The Goal” because when we can manifest just about anything when we do it this way. It is an energy that cannot be forced.
Thanks for an amazing article,
-Donna
Hi Donna
Thanks so much for your comment and I am so glad you enjoyed the post. I always say to Ryan that the time before all the travel and working for ourselves really does feel like a totally different life. I love what you said here…such great insights. And you are right, it really can’t be forced. That alignment has to be there, and when it is, things come together so much more easily. That pull is important to honor…when we don’t lots of frustration and stagnation can set in.
Hello Kelli,
As always great motivation over here and how manage and get going with things that does occur to us frequently.
I loved how you said, ” consistent doesn’t mean to be constant however” indeed we need to shift our self from time to time.
At a while there would be something that we need to be constant at and after few time, something new comes in and we need to
focus upon that.
Thanks for the share.
Shantanu.
Thanks for your comment Shantanu and I am glad you found the post useful!
