I am confused about something regarding being ready for our desire to come, let’s say I want to lose weight but I don’t want to give up the junk food, can my desire be to lose weight and still enjoy junk food as much as I’m used to?
Can my desire be to have a job or a source of income without growing, cultivating any skill or providing value for anyone? Can my desire be to keep my “bad habits” and thrive? I don’t want to give up these stuff that everyone says I must change in order to improve my life, I want to keep them and improve my life in the same time (I don’t want to mark them as the “bad thing” that needs to change) is that possible with LOA?
This is a really good question and I think really gets to the heart of two of the biggest issues with conscious creation–the difference between the theory and reality of manifesting, and how much we have to participate in the receiving of our desired new realities.
I will be discussing this in the context of the examples given–diet, work and finances–but it applies to anything.
Working within Our Belief System
I remember I had a client awhile back who was working on losing weight. She was following a pretty strict diet, and exercising quite vigorously on the regular. And she was a bit frustrated with it all, namely because it felt really hard.
If our weight, and the general state of our health, is a manifestation of energy just like anything else, it would seem that diet and exercise and other ‘external’ approaches wouldn’t really matter as much, and I suggested she pull back a bit from this regimen and see what she felt inspired to do.
During our next call she was amazed at what transpired over that week. While barely exercising, easing up on her diet and eating pizza several times that week, she actually lost five pounds.
She wasn’t beating herself up, she wasn’t experiencing much anxiety over taking this route. She felt really good; she felt a great sense of relief not having to put so much mental and physical effort into this goal. Very interesting results wouldn’t you say?
Having personally explored the relationship between energy and weight (and health issues too,) I can also attest to a similar experience. I think the physical body is one area where it can be harder to wrap our heads around the idea of energy being the primary influencer since external causes for weight and health issues are so particularly prevalent.
Having read and heard countless stories about people doing things with their bodies that would be considered impossible or fatal, after undergoing intense mental training, it is clear that mind was ruling over matter.
But with that being said, it is extremely deeply ingrained that diet and exercise are cornerstones of weight loss. I definitely feel better when I eat healthier than when I don’t so I do think that food can affect our bodies in some way. But I do believe energy rules all.
I don’t know if I could fully buy into the idea that eating whatever I want over the long-term wouldn’t make any difference in my weight, that I could even lose weight doing so, even with the evidence of my own experience. Again, we are talking about very deeply ingrained beliefs that just aren’t ours individually, but shared collectively.
It is pretty deeply ingrained that to have money, you must have some sort of income in the form of a job or business, barring of course, winning the lottery or having someone else support you fully and completely.
If it is our energy that creates, then any belief where we think something outside of us is necessary for a manifestation would be considered a ‘limiting’ belief.
But some of these beliefs can actually serve us because they support the results we seek. It is easier to work within these belief systems than try to override them completely.
The key is we feel good about whatever paths we are pursuing. This isn’t ‘permission’ to keep buying into shitty beliefs that are messing with your life and keeping you from stepping into your power.
It would take a lot of inner work, and you would have to overcome a shitload of resistance to get into a space where you truly believe with all your heart you could earn money without opening up income channels in the form of a job or business or finding a rich partner, to lose a ton of weight without making one single change to your lifestyle.
While you always want to nurture the energy first and foremost, without a doubt it would probably be easier and faster to explore employment opportunities or finally start your dream business, to try to eat healthier and exercise more, in conjunction.
What’s The Energy Driving You?
What we do really isn’t the issue, it’s why we are doing it.
Something is only a problem if it’s a problem.
What is the energy driving eating habits that you believe are unhealthy? What is the energy that makes you feel so resistant to changing your life or yourself?
From where does the opposition to changing your diet stem? Is it from a relatively aligned space of truly believing–not just intellectually understanding– it really doesn’t matter, and you just need to work on your energy a bit more?
Or is it from a space of self-sabotage, laziness, resisting inner work and exploring your emotions, ego wanting to resist certain types of advice or not wanting to do things that are uncomfortable?
If it’s the latter-type energy, you probably will have a hard time seeing the changes you want to see without doing some inner work, without making certain changes to your habits and behaviors to support the energy you are trying to cultivate.
It’s not really the things you are doing, it’s the energy behind them. Our actions are manifestations of energy just like anything else, not separate from it.
For example, if you are eating junk food–which we have a belief is bad for us and will make us fat–as a form of self-sabotage because being overweight is serving you somehow, changing your eating habits probably won’t help much because you actually don’t want to lose the weight.
And trying to develop a different view of food will not have very much of an effect ,if again, deep down, you don’t want to lose the weight. That less ‘limiting’ view of food will not be enough to edge out these more ‘problematic’ energies.
So your main area of concern really isn’t in the realm of action, but the energy–the thoughts, feelings and beliefs. That is the true level of ‘cause’, and to see real, meaningful change in your life, this is where the magic happens. The action really isn’t where it’s at.
As you make these energetic shifts, see what you feel inspired to do. As the energy changes, you may feel very differently about certain actions or changes. You may want to make them. Or you still feel the way you feel now but don’t have any conflict about it. Either way, your energy is in the ‘right’ place so it’s all good.
You Don’t Have to Change or Grow
But I would say a few things about that…
We are here having a physical experience, we have an innate desire to create, so we would probably find pleasure and satisfaction in doing work we love. And because we have a pretty deeply ingrained belief we need to do something to get money, it makes sense to do something that aligns with our interests and values .
If you truly have no desire for meaningful work, it’s okay and there are plenty of other ways to enjoy life, but again, do you really believe you can receive money without doing anything in exchange, including becoming dependent on someone else?
You probably don’t, and it could be a good idea to consider ways to receive money that would be enjoyable to you.
If you are more interested in applying the principles of this teaching strictly to get certain things, effect specific external changes, rather than make deeper inner transformation that will strengthen your connection with spirit, heal inner wounds, live a life of greater ease and joy, reinforce your connection with your higher self and all that jazz —which will lead to the stuff anyway–you can certainly do that. It’s fine.
You may be one of the people who care more about getting their ‘stuff’ than being happy. I know to our mind they seem like one and the same, but they really aren’t. This little nugget can take awhile to sink in.
The other way isn’t better. But prepare yourself for the possibility you will not find as much enjoyment in the weight loss, the money or whatever else, since its absence was never the problem in the first place.
The manifestations really aren’t the answer, and tend to provide superficial ‘relief’ for a time, but the true roots of discontent remain, and resurface eventually. Whether or not we decide to do something about that, or just keep chasing the manifestations, is up to us.
At the end of the day, you just want to feel certain feelings, and if the way you are conducting your life now isn’t giving you those feelings, something will have to give. Something needs to change somewhere.
If you have no interest in growing or changing, again, that’s fine. So long as your current ways of operating are serving you and not harming you or impeding your well-being in any way, no reason not to proceed as you were. As they say: ‘if it ain’t broke don’t fix it.’
But if you are like any other human on earth, there is a good chance this isn’t the case, and there are a variety of energies that aren’t conducive to allowing in the things you want to manifest. We have been instilled with lots of fears and beliefs that cause us great difficulty and suffering. Some degree of inner work will probably be necessary on your part.
How deep that work goes varies by person, and like I mentioned before, going ‘deeper’ isn’t ‘better.’
It comes back to the issue of whether you want to make more significant inner transformation, or change your energy just ‘enough’ to allow in a version of the stuff you want that is deemed ‘good enough’ by your mind.
While we have no obligation to anyone for anything, I think on some level we recognize our interconnectedness, and enjoy and feel a desire to help others in some way, to add value to other people’s lives in some shape or form.
By helping others, we are helping ourselves. By loving others, we are loving ourselves. We benefit as well as the people receiving whatever it is we are giving.
That you don’t want to provide this ‘value’ isn’t ‘wrong’ or doesn’t mean you are a bad person in any way, but just remember that caring about others and caring about yourself are far from mutually exclusive concepts.
I think we have very warped ideas about our obligations to others, what makes us a ‘good’ person, etc…and this can turn people off to the idea of living a life of ‘service’ to others or making sure your work provides some sort of ‘value’ to your fellow human.
We also want to think of ‘value’ differently. Anything we do provides ‘value’ to others if it helps them in some way, provides them something they need.
This idea isn’t limited to professions like energy healers, non-profits helping the downtrodden of society or NGO workers living in extremely challenging conditions while serving third world populations. It doesn’t have to involve great personal sacrifice on your part. You don’t have to give up your happiness in order to tend to that of others.
Self-love is a really important energy for manifesting, and I imagine most of us would want to take good care of our bodies, and do things for it we believe would support its well-being.
I just know personally I didn’t truly start feeling happier until I did that inner work on a deeper, more honest level, until I applied this teaching in a deeper way.
Just getting the ‘stuff’ I wanted by being more intentional with my focus, and changing the beliefs that were directly impacting the specific areas of my life in which I wanted to see change, was cool for awhile. My ego certainly enjoyed seeing its ‘power.’ or what it believed to be its power.
But I realized it wasn’t enough.
This didn’t mean I gave up on the ‘stuff.’ I still wanted certain things. I still do. But I stopped making this ‘work’ all about getting them above all else. And like I said before, those things all came anyway. So no harm done there.
Remember our desperate wanting ,and resistance of our current reality, is really not part of the manifesting equation, it really, really isn’t.
But this is just my personal experience. This journey will look different for everyone. Everyone will have different goals and intentions. It is about figuring out what you want, what is best for you, and how deeply you want to take it.
Your Turn

Kelli, I absolutely adore the clarity you write with, and this is such a great question and great response. I also want to add that my personal observation has been when people are really resistant to changing their behaviors, they are often not ok with having what they want. Something like giving up junk food, for example, is a very easy fix to feeling better and losing weight. If there was really no resistance to those feelings, then why not go for the low-hanging fruit of working within the system and eating healthier (which works rather quickly) over dealing with the emotional and mental gymnastics of overhauling your belief systems? Nothing wrong with #2, but in this approach, you are potentially keeping yourself in a state that you claim you don’t want for an extended period of time, while completely discounting the quick fix. Just my 2 cents 🙂
Hi Leslie
Thank you for sharing your two cents…it was very valuable and very insightful! I like what you said about the ‘low hanging fruit’ That is a perfect way to put it. A similar line of thinking applies to doing things that give us peace of mind–it is easier to lock your door, get car insurance, etc…than try to cultivate an energy that would make you impervious to getting robbed or in a car accident. Especially since we can’t completely control outside events. Great stuff here!
Such a timely post, as always, Kelli. I personally believe changing myself inwardly for the better is what I ultimately want. I want to be the best person I can be, and that comes from loving myself enough to alter my energy.
Life is so big!
Thanks so much for your insights!
😊Jeannie
Hi Jeannie
Thanks for your comment and I am glad you enjoyed the post. I like what you said about loving yourself enough to do this work. Self-love issues run deeper than we realize, and this is why we tend to be so resistant to the topic, view it as hippy dippy or whatever.
Hi Kelli,
I just had a spiritual awakening the other day when I notice my life is no more than a pattern.
A pattern that started when I was young.
The more I go deeper inside the more I find distorted beliefs and perspectives. I try to manipulate reality to fit my beliefs and get upset when I can’t. I knew I had a problem when I couldn’t just let life happen.
This revelation have humbled me and given me mental peace. My false image I created to protect myself is being exposed for what it is.
This post have opened my mind to other areas of my belief that may be hindering me from getting to my higher self.
Thanks my friend for the insight.
Hi Vernon
Thanks so much for your comment and sharing the insights from your own experience .Very powerful insights you had, and I think anyone reading this comment will find great resonance with it, especially about trying to control things. This realization can be uncomfortable because it can kind of upend everything, but it brings us to a space where we can really change in profound ways.
Hi Kelli;
I really loved this post (I love all of your posts). So many nuggets of wisdom, as usual!
Regarding “diet and exercise,” I find (for me) that focusing on the internal (loving and appreciating my body, feeling slim, strong, and sexy) naturally results in me choosing to “exercise” and choose healthy foods. I just don’t want the “junk” food.
So yes, our choices are most definitely a manifestation of our energies.
You are such a blessing to the Universe!
Peace,
Denise
Hi Denise
I agree with nurturing the energy being the first thing we look at rather than going right to action. When we jump to the latter without addressing the former, the change is harder because we aren’t aligned with it, we actually don’t want it for some reason usually.
Hello Kelli,
The heading just drove me here to your site, Great one over here 🙂
Yeah there are lot things we do not want to act for it but we want that it can change instantly, so that our life can be
on a right full path. Like earlier, I was severe into consumption of alcohol and bad habits, yeah I wasted couple of years
of mine into that, yep but gradually those ill habits were gone yeah the road was pretty tough but yeah I did it.
Recently I have gained a lot of weight this year and now I am working on it, pretty hard schedule to follow up, as working
around 10 hours in front of computer and then working out hard to get back in shape not an easy task.
I am my prescription if we want to change something, then its very important to change our self, it can not be done
just by sitting and thinking that wish we can change this to that.
Thanks for the share.
Shantanu.
Hi Shantanu
Thanks for your comment and sharing your personal experience. I am sure that was a very challenging time for you, and given your mindset that shines through in your comments, I am not surprised at all you were able to get through addiction and trying times. So I have no doubt you will be able to handle the weight as well. Just pay attention to the energy driving your habits now, and it will be much easier to change them. When we go right to the habit change through sheer force and ‘willpower’ we tend to burn out pretty quickly.
Hi Kelli,
I think my biggest take home from most of your posts is the idea that in the end what we are really after are feelings and that we can cultivate those at any moment. Thank you for your inspiring words.
Hi Rachel
Yup, that’s the key. Can take a bit to sink in and it may never fully! But that’s just being human for you
This is a follow up of what I commented on the post of developing a consistent level of vibration. I have followed your suggestions since then. Here is how I have redramed my beliefs. Please tell me if you think I am making a shift in the right direction:
1. I found self love to be easily cultivated when gratitude is practiced. Feeling thankful for what you’ve been given than for what you are is easier. And I practice this to feel better as I feel more in a state of positive transition than a static being.
2. I find that a lot of resistance comes from envisioning when the future will take place. And when we visualise this scenario, we become more aware that we don’t have it right now and this results in impatience, happiness etc.
I found the best way to counter is that whenever I am pressed to think about the future, I tell myself ‘there is only now, the past and future doesn’t have exist.’ followed by reminding myself that today, this moment is a gift and I will gratefully enjoy it while telling myself that I chose to have faith over doubt.
So I haven’t tried to manifest anything ever since the last comment. I chose to rewire my beliefs and it’s helped me somewhat. And since I wish to be grateful for this moment, I choose to only partake in actions that feel good.
So, am I on the right track? Or should I reframe them in a bit different way before I choose to consciously create again?
Hi Hez
Your line of thinking is spot on…you are doing great! You are right…we only have now, nothing else really exists.
Oh, i meant unhappiness in point 2.
Hi, Kelli again! I really liked and resonated with the analogy that you give about food. I notice more and more that somehow, (maybe thanks to my mindful eating practice) – that I actually food, which could be described by people as ”junk food” (croissants, chocolate, french fries) and my weight even goes down sometimes or stays normal. I think it has to do with the approach I have cultivated towards the food. (gratefulness for all food, included ”junk” which is tasteful for me). I think I have started applying this principle in terms of make-up. Once I had the deeply ingrained belief that I should use make-up in order to find myself attractive and others to find me attractive. One day I started finding evidence which supports natural attractiveness, until nowadays I do not use any make-up at all. Others keep finding me sweet as well as I. So, do you find any association between the example with food and this with make-up?
Hi Radost
Your approach is very similar. Our belief system is very very powerful and as it gains momentum, we will begin to manifest all sorts of things that support it.
