Welcome to part three of my little tutorial on making LOA work in your favor. While far from an expert, I feel I have gotten a lot of great results. And, I think I can impart some information that will help others make the positive changes in their life which they seek.
Like I had mentioned in my second post, I will be reiterating a few points at the beginning of each for two reasons. First, someone may not have read the previous posts, and maybe they won’t ever. Second, I feel it is stuff that really needs to be drilled deep into your minds when heading out on this little attraction journey of yours. Don’t worry though, these little ‘intros’ will be as unique as possible! And, I will be peppering some travel photos throughout in hopes that showing you I got what I wanted, will inspire you to go after what you want full force.
Concepts like the law of attraction tend to fly directly in the face of what most of us have been taught to believe about the nature of ‘reality.’ The idea that our thoughts can affect what we bring into our life kind of sounds like nonsense to lots of people, and it is understandable given the strong belief many of us harbor about having limited control over our lives, and always being subject to the mercy of something outside of us.
Sure, we all know making deliberate choices definitely can affect the quality of our life, regardless of what is happening around us. But LOA is not about those deliberate good and bad decisions, it is about good things coming to us without taking any sort of specific action, without having to do much of anything but raise our energy and feel good. This is what people have a hard time wrapping their head around. The logical part of our brain starts working in overdrive, trying to figure out how this could be possible, but it will never get the answer it seeks. This is the point where you need to take a leap of faith, rather than give up because you can’t ‘understand’ it.

The idea we are directly influencing what happens in our lives is a very empowering thought, and when I first read about this in more detail, I was starving for empowering information that would help me turn my mess-of-a-life around. It all sounded good to me, and I told myself I would commit to doing what all these materials were telling me to do, and I started noticing changes. That was all the ‘proof’ I needed, and I ran with it.
But, of course, at some point you will begin to think about the bad things that happen to people, and you will wonder how that is to be explained. So, you mean to tell me people had some sort of energy or belief in them that attracted rape, molestation or some other horrible act? What about situations where large groups of people are affected by a tragedy at once? You mean to tell me they all had that same energy and that is what brought about this horrible plane crash or terrorist attack?
These are the sorts of questions that will make a concept like LOA seem utterly absurd. People interpret the idea of attracting as some sort of ‘punishment.’ I won’t lie to you…I still don’t totally understand these events from an attraction perspective, though many teachers with a really good grasp of this stuff have some pretty compelling explanations that delve into issues such as ‘’collective consciousness’’ or the belief that people reincarnate and want to experience the full range of human experience, including the shittiest of the shittiest stuff. Definitely check out the blog of Melody Fletcher for more in-depth information.
I can’t speak with certainty about whether some events are just completely random, having nothing to do with the person, his energy or his deep-seated beliefs or if there is something at play that we just can’t fully comprehend because of the limits of being ‘human.’

All I know is, when I started applying what I had learned, my life changed dramatically. I didn’t let my inability to understand the concept ‘logically’ or worry about how all the ‘bad’ stuff could be explained get in the way. And, if you really want to see changes in your life, and make them in the least painful way possible, it is important you do the same.
Examine the Limiting Beliefs You Currently Hold and Work Diligently to Replace Them
Like I mentioned before, this concept is presenting information that is a very far departure from how you have been conditioned to think all of your life—if you grew up around people who believed in things like this, lucky you. But, chances are, you would have no need to read this blog because you already know this stuff and your life is already freaking awesome.
Since you were a wee little child, your mind has been imprinted with all sorts of negative, limiting beliefs that hold you back from living your true potential, and taking full control of your life. These beliefs stem from a variety of sources, such as your religion, your parents, your education system, and just the general society and culture in which you found yourself. And simply because of the repeated exposure, you began to believe these things too; there was no critical thinking or reflection, you just took these things as truth.
Maybe your father took great pride in his blue collar lifestyle, and would say things like ‘I might not be rich, but at least I’m honest.’’ This led you to believe having money meant you were probably a bad person, and is likely a major reason why you are now broke. Maybe your parents criticized you a lot, and led you to believe you were only capable of so much in life, and you took them at their word.
If you want to make LOA work for you, it is crucial you do an inventory of your current belief system. While you may not be able to uncover every last little belief you hold about life, you can make a nice dent, and work on the big ones that are really causing you problems.

Get out a piece of paper (or a Word document if pen and paper seem too primitive), and write down all the beliefs you hold about money, success, happiness, love and any other subject which is relevant to your current situation. Even if you don’t consider yourself a negative person, you will probably be quite surprised at how many negative beliefs you hold, and then you will quickly discover why your life has turned out the way it has up until this point.
The only way to fix this problem is to expose yourself to new information, information about beliefs far more empowering and positive, information that will cause you to question and reflect. And this is something you must do on a regular basis, or else you will never be able to uproot the old beliefs holding you back. You have a lot of reprogramming to do, and a casual flip through a book, or reading a blog post like this once every few weeks is not going to cut it.
You will have plenty of moments where you are doubting this stuff, and the new information will help quell this doubt, and get you back on track faster.
You Can’t Get More until You’re Grateful for What You Already Have
If I had a dollar for every time I caught myself being an ungrateful a-hole, I would probably be very rich by now. And most of you probably would be too. Is this because we are all horrible douches? No, not really.
It is because we are so used to having certain things in our relatively cushy existence, we just don’t realize how good we have it. It is because the negative feelings that come with not having something we want are just so strong, we put all our focus on that, and allow ourselves to totally lose perspective. Perspective is everything in this life, and most of us could stand to adopt a better one in most instances.

This element of getting LOA to work for you is on one hand, the easiest to execute, but at the same time, one of the most difficult. Like I said, the pull of negative feelings caused by lack, or things not going the way we hoped, is really strong, and can easily consume us.
Remember LOA is all about how we feel, and if we are feeling shitty, we are really going to slow things down. Sincere gratitude is a nice, warm fuzzy feeling, a feeling that puts us smack on the path to attracting the stuff we want. It helps dispel the worry, fear and doubt that puts up a wall between you and what you want.
If you are interested in taking the path of least resistance when it comes to getting the things you want, you must do all you can to feel good. And one of the best ways to do so is to be thankful about all the good things you already have in your life.
You won’t get more in your life until you’re grateful for what you already have. So, no matter how crappy you think your life is now, you better find at least one thing for which you can be grateful. At the very least, be thankful for access to the internet, where tons of helpful information to change your life is available in an instant, such as this fab blog post.
Make out a list of all the things that are good in your life now, and spare nothing, no matter how small it may seem. You may think nothing of being able to breathe normally, but if you all of a sudden needed an oxygen tank, you would probably sing a different tune. Sure, maybe you just lost your job, but you have an amazing boyfriend or family—you have a lot of time to devote to your personal development now, and are presented with a wonderful. opportunity to get on a path to a better life. Perhaps you are not thrilled with your job , but be grateful for the source of income and being able to buy food and pay your bills.

When you feel yourself getting a little caught up on what is missing, and what you don’t like, think about something for which you can be grateful. It is one of the quickest ways to shift your energy into a place that will move you closer to what you want.
So, there you have part 3. Here is a quick recap of what we have learned so far
- Relax, you don’t have to feel good every freaking second to attract better things into your life
- You need to start feeling good right now, no matter what is happening.
- For the love of God, stop putting all your attention on what you don’t’ want and don’t like and start focusing on the good stuff
- Everything comes from within, so anything that happened in your past was a result of the old, crappy beliefs you held. Once you change that, your life has no choice but to be different. The past has no bearing on what is possible for your future.
- You must uncover your crappy, limiting beliefs and work diligently to uproot them; the best way to do this is constant exposure to more empowering beliefs and ways of being.
- It is perfectly okay to want more out of life, but you won’t get it until you can feel gratitude for what you already have.
Another epic post KC. The thing is, when you start embracing the LOA, you’ll notice your manifestations. The cool ones, the not so cool ones, and everything in between. Then you’ll pick your thoughts and feelings with so much greater care than you currently are, because you’ll see how much your life changes by simply choosing your vibe.
Thanks!
I found this post on Kingged.com and gave it a thumbs up, of course 🙂
Hey there
Thanks so much. You are so right, once you really notice it in action you will be much more selective about what is going on inside.
“You Can’t Get More until You’re Grateful for What You Already Have” is a great way to put it. I agree/live by this fully. I’ve never been a grass is green on the other side kind of person, but the one who wanted to make my side greener. Sometimes I was missing the mark on making my side greener but I still had the grasp that it was at least part of my problem to fix.
Maybe I have the easy route to this mentality because I was orphaned at a young age. I remember only eating rice. I remember only having one toy to my name. I wonder how different I’d be if I didn’t have that experience. I’d like to think that going through that rough time has made me a better quality person.
I remember watching “The Secret” and found it very compelling. I still am not convinced that I “attracted” good things to my life because I’ve had as many or more bad things happen. But I do feel like most of the good things that came my way happened outside of my determination. It felt like the universe was smiling on me.
Hey Meredith
I love how you put that–‘trying to make my side greener’. I think everyone can miss the mark sometimes. It sounds like you made having a good life and a happy life a priority. While I am sure you have your moments like any other human, someone who came from your backgroud could have easily went a whole different direction and blamed it on their circumstances, but you chose not to let your challenges dictate your life. I have no doubt all of that made you a better person–adversity is often necessary for real growth and change because it is hard to do all we need to do if there really isn’t anything pushing us. I have no doubt the Universe was definitely smiling on you!
Hello Kelli

What caught my attention were the words- “You won’t get more in your life until you’re grateful for what you already have.”
Thanks for sharing your work with the world.

Hi Paul
Thanks so much. I am so glad you liked it. That gratitude is crucial with LOA because you attract based on what you feel, and if you don’t feel good, or feel lack or other negative feelings on a deeper level, it puts up a huge block to what you want.
