Generally, the whole concept of LOA is hard for our logical minds to grasp. But, one tenet in particular is this idea you have to do very little to get results, and it is all based on your feeling.
Sure, it sounds nice, but seriously? The short answer to the question I posed in the title is ‘yes.’ This is not a response I would have been able to give with such certainty until the last couple of years, when I really kicked up my LOA work a hundred notches, and got amazing results. Nothing will get your ass in gear self-improvement wise than your life royally sucking, and sucked it did at one point!
But, there is a lot of nuance to that answer.
In some respects, obviously we have to take some sort of action. You can fantasize about being a best-selling author all day long, but warm, fuzzy feelings won’t get that story to paper. You can envision running a successful business, but this is not something that will happen within a week of opening, and there is a lot of ‘stuff’ that needs to be tended to over a longer period of time.
If you want to build a consulting business, you should probably do some networking. Your blog will have a hard time gaining traffic if you never promote the site and no one knows it exists.
There will be work to do, but in many areas, you simply won’t have to do as much of it.
Sometimes you may have to do things you really don’t feel like doing because they are necessary pieces of the puzzle. There may be stops and starts, and redirecting of your course, as you clarify your vision of your ideal life and what you want.
But, when you begin to gain a better understanding of LOA, commit to applying what you learn consistently, and start getting results, this awesome truth will become clearer and clearer as you move down your path. You will get a better sense of when to take action and when to just hang back and let stuff happen.
This topic can be a bit tough for me to verbalize as well as I would like but I will do my best. I think I can do a halfway decent job of shedding light on this aspect of the attraction process, an aspect that can be one of the more challenging to grasp beyond an intellectual understanding.
Because this truth has moved beyond a mere intellectual understanding to something I truly know based on my experience (at least most of the time!), I wanted to write something that would hopefully help people be better able to ‘apply’ this aspect.
Keep Logic out of It
This piece of advice is pretty spot on for LOA in general. To the uber-advanced people who have a deep understanding of this stuff, this concept actually probably makes perfect logical sense.
But, for the rest of us, our brand of logic screams this stuff is utter crap. But, just because something doesn’t make sense logically, does not by any means suggest it can’t be a legitimate ‘thing.’
Depending on your level of openness, how long you have been working with the concept, etc…certain parts of LOA may not be as ‘strange’ to you. Our thoughts can influence our reality? Sure, I can buy that.
Setting clear intentions about what we want can set some wheels in motion, and we are more likely to get whatever it is we are after? Okay, not too crazy.
The most important thing is how you feel, and all you have to do to attract awesome things is cultivate the feelings the stuff you want would give you…..and you will attract things that will give you those same feelings, without taking any specific action? What you talkin ’bout Willis?
To our logical minds which have been taught you must work hard, force and power through even when feeling like crap, this can be just too much to take.
We are used to a certain procession of events. We decide we want something. We then figure out ‘how’ we will get it. We can come up with like three ways, maybe five at best. We try to control and manipulate. We get super-attached to specific situations and outcomes. We feel like if we aren’t taking action, we are being lazy.
Just do your best to keep logic out of the equation.
You Aren’t Really Doing Nothing
When you think about it, you really aren’t doing nothing. This is easier to comprehend the deeper we get into our work with the concept. The more it begins to ‘make sense,’ the more we realize the work we are doing ‘upstairs’ is the most important thing we can do to improve our life, and manifest all the goodies we desire.
Reprogramming the crappy beliefs and self-image we have carried around all our lives, and letting all that happy, shiny stuff really take root is easy in theory, but in practice, can be quite the challenge. If it were so easy for us to change our beliefs and ways of thinking, we surely would choose that simple route, and not struggle the way we sometimes do.
So, if you believe in LOA, and already have had experiences that validate the truth of this concept, know you are far from doing ‘nothing’ when you put so much effort on stepping up your game mentally.
How You Feel TRULY is the Core
The reason you can attract so many different things without taking any sort of action is because LOA is all about how we feel. When we are aligned with what we want, it gets delivered to us without taking any sort of specific action that directly results in the manifestation.
This idea of being ‘aligned’ can be confusing to people. We wonder how do we ‘align’ with a new car or more freelance work? But, all it takes to be ‘aligned’ is feeling good. You are cultivating the feelings that lie behind your desire, and you feel them now, even in the absence of whatever it is you are waiting for.
Being ‘aligned’ means being detached from outcomes, and more importantly detached from the desire. You made your intentions clear, you know it will come and anytime you think about it, you don’t feel a sense of wanting, but rather a sense it is already yours and you are just waiting for it.
It is kind of like going to a restaurant. You put in your order, and there is no worry that the waiter will just decide not to give it to you—you know it is coming.
The ‘doing nothing’ comes in the form of a person mentioning a great job opportunity to you ,and you are back in the workforce in a few weeks, when you were concerned you would not find a job for months and months, and hadn’t even sent out a single resume.
It is someone telling you about some great site that provides the exact information you totally needed right at that moment to solve some problem with your business.
It is running into someone you hadn’t seen in years who ends up referring your services to someone who puts in a huge order, and refers a steady stream of clients.
It is meeting your perfect match, not from forcing yourself to go to bars every weekend even though you hate them, but after he was the only person who stopped by the side of the road to help you change your flat tire.
Unless something really needs to be attended to at that particular moment, always pull back from what you are doing when you are feeling badly. Catch yourself when you find yourself in a position where you are forcing and manipulating circumstances, and step away.
Inspired Action is Where It’s At
When it comes to taking action, you want to focus on inspired action. Inspired action is the type of action that makes us feel good, and after we do whatever it is we feel compelled to do, we start seeing results, or get some unmistakeable sign we are on the right path.
You have a strike of inspiration to tweak your website; it looks great, you feel great, and you land a new client within a couple of days.
You get a great idea for a free e-book giveaway, the words flow, you put it on your site, and your subscriber count explodes.
Inspired action is those urges we get out of nowhere, and when we listen and do whatever it is we feel prompted to do, we somehow move closer to our goal. Here are some of my own experiences with inspired action…….
When I first got the idea in my head I wanted to do writing professionally, I had already been a student of LOA. Though at this time, not as serious as I am now. But, I believed, and I was open.
Did I get my first job (which ended up providing me a steady amount of work for over two years) by combing through job boards each and every day, applying for any post at which I thought I had a marginal chance of acceptance, all the while worrying about my lack of experience and all the other writers out there vying for these same jobs?
Not even close. I just focused on writing and it made me feel good. At this time, I was putting up stuff on Ezinearticles and other sites essentially for fun.
Then one day, I got an urge to visit Backpage.com, a site I had heard of, but never, ever visited until that moment. For those of you not familiar, it is like Craigslist. I went through the job listings, saw the one for this company, and applied. Really didn’t think much of it, and a few days later I heard back.
When a few years back, my income disappeared overnight, and I was literally living off credit cards, I really got into LOA. I stood firm on feeling good, and taking inspired action.
I didn’t force things. My first income trickled in when I came across a blog post about a particular online work-at-home opportunity that was offered through a few different companies.
Many people had said these companies get inundated with applications, and it can take up to six months to hear back. But, I had a feeling to apply anyway, and I got a response in not even six days.
Must have been a period when they were really short on workers and looking to fill positions quickly….some people would say I was lucky, but us LOA folk know the truth. I was back in the land of income earners finally.
I eventually landed three very lucrative freelance writing jobs, within a few days of each other, that left me making more money than I ever had—again, no poring over job boards and applying to ten opportunities a day.
During this time of financial crisis, I seriously spent most of my time working on myself, and took actions when the urge hit. This was tough at times, but it sure worked out well for me.
So, pay attention to those urges, and act on them. You will get the things you want in a much easier and more pleasant manner.
So , yeah, you can get something for nothing, but remember again—getting LOA to work in our favor is hardly doing nothing. Till next time…

Just found your website and guest post on Triberr. I have recently been dabbling in LOA and am curious to know all I can. Thanks for sharing. I am very curious about your jobs that allow you to live your traveling lifestyle.
Hi Shannon
Thanks for stopping by. Definitely keep learning all you can…at first glance the information can be at odds with our current way of thinking and ‘logically’ it won’t make sense. But, the more you keep reading, the more you will understand and your belief will strengthen. My life totally changed when I became a serious student and my experience tells me there is something to it. If you really want some great info, I highly recommend you check out Melody Fletcher’s blog Deliberate Receiving..best resource for LOA ever, seriously. Right now, my income is based on various freelance writing jobs.
Hi KC,
You practice what you preach.By feeling good, you magnetize yourself to good. Feeling good takes conscious effort on your part. The goal is to feel good most of the time, and to NOT act if you feel crappy. Well said.
I get why few believe in the LOA; few feel good most of the time. Trying to barrel your way through your day is not the way to manifest cool things. Trying to control circumstances, by applying through 1,000 job sites a day, so you feel desperate, worn out, stressed, annoyed and frustrated, ain’t the way to go.
The way to go is feeling good. Being present, grateful and ready to listen to – and act on – that little voice speaking from within, which knows the way, is the secret.
Anybody can do this manifesting stuff, but only enlightened beings can get something for nothing – work-wise – and these sages took years of their lives learning to manifest, and clearing energies, and even then, their intents are so pure, it’s just something that non-enlightened, attached souls, should aim for.
Love your insight KC.
Tweeting this one in a bit.

Hey there
You give some great insight on this aspect of LOA…it almost seems too simple, and for that reason, easily dismissed. But, we both know the real story 🙂
Hi Kelli, I enjoyed this post, it explains being aligned and inspired action well. I’ve been studying LOA for about 3 years and I don’t always get all the concepts but I feel like the idea of “feeling your desires” ( feeling how you will feel when you have your desire/s) is starting to “click” a bit more now.
P.S. I hope you’re enjoying it in Savusavu. 🙂 I used to live in Suva when I was little. Unfortunately I don’t remember much (I was 3 and 4 year old at the time), so it would be great to go back one day. 🙂
Hi
Thanks so much..so glad you liked it. I think this part of LOA can be one of the hardest to grasp because the ideas are so far away from what we have been taught goes into being a success, getting what we want and making things happen. My experience was the same as yours, and I think it is the experience of many–there are certain elements of LOA that we understand and buy into based on our experience we have had, and a part of us that resonates with what we read and hear, but we don’t really feel this truth on the deepest level. When it finally does click, it’s like..duh, this is so easy! But, we have a lot of stuff to work through to get to that point where things feel more ‘effortless.’
It can be hard because not having what we want can create so much discord, and we can feel very strongly that we can’t feel better until things change; we argue very vehemently for our negative emotions. But, feelings are available to us at any time we choose to let ourselves feel them, and once we realize it is the feeling we are after, not the actual ‘thing’ we want, we can find lots of ways to get into that space.
We are loving Savusavu so much. I have not had the opportunity to get to Suva but from what I gather, it is much different than here. Much more activity and ‘stuff’ going on as the majority of the population is concentrated there. Fijian people are so warm and friendly. We are leaving in about 3 weeks..we have been here since the end of June and the time went by so fast!
Yeah, I think the more you practise it, the easier it gets and you start to understand it on different levels. So maybe you understand it on one level and then later on you move on and understand it on another level.
Glad you’re enjoying it in Savasavu. 🙂
Yes, new levels of understanding do emerge and we realize the process is much simpler than we initially think. The reconditioning of our minds is not an immediate process. As that understanding deepens, it gets a lot more fun too!
