{"id":940,"date":"2014-09-08T06:00:04","date_gmt":"2014-09-08T10:00:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.livelifemadetoorder.com\/blog\/blog\/?p=940"},"modified":"2021-08-02T05:39:42","modified_gmt":"2021-08-02T05:39:42","slug":"law-of-attraction-limiting-beliefs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.livelifemadetoorder.com\/blog\/law-of-attraction-limiting-beliefs\/","title":{"rendered":"Law of Attraction: Reader Questions about Limiting Beliefs and &#8216; Obstacles&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">So, as you can see from the title of this post, I am addressing a couple of questions one of my fabulous readers sent in about some aspects of law of attraction that were leaving her a bit confused.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">\u00a0This LOA stuff does seem a bit confusing at times doesn&#8217;t it? It can seem really hard. It is easy to get the impression the Universe requires us to jump through a lot of hoops to get our &#8216;stuff.&#8217;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">\u00a0<strong><em>But, as I have gotten deeper into my work with this concept, I have realized it really isn\u2019t that hard at all. We\u2019re the ones who are making it so. It\u2019s totally understandable though. <\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">\u00a0Our minds have been conditioned to think in a way that really doesn\u2019t vibe with this <a title=\"Law of Attraction: Clearing Up 6 Worries Impeding Your Progress\" href=\"https:\/\/www.livelifemadetoorder.com\/blog\/blog\/law-attraction-worries\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">whole LOA thing<\/a>, and undoing that programming can take a bit (or a lot) of work. I know I am still dealing with some faulty programming myself. Once we become aware of this concept, we can put a lot of pressure on ourselves to change our ways.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">\u00a0Our logical minds can really get in the way. We have a burning need to have it make \u2018sense.\u2019 When the principles get filtered through our brain, we get overloaded with a bunch of thoughts that make us doubt whether this is really how it works; whether it can be this easy.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">\u00a0Furthermore, a lot of material you will find on LOA can leave you feeling a bit unsatisfied. Ask and it is given\u2026.that really sums it up pretty well. But, how to go about getting into a state where you really feel this is true, and what you can do to best cultivate this belief, is usually not discussed in great detail. We usually need a bit more to help us work through, and discard, all the <a title=\"Law of Attraction: When Your Mind is Being an Uncooperative A-Hole\" href=\"https:\/\/www.livelifemadetoorder.com\/blog\/blog\/law-attraction-mind-uncooperative-hole\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">mental \u2018stuff\u2019 that gets in the way.<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">\u00a0I\u2019ll be completely honest with you here. When I first started this blog, I was reluctant to write anything about LOA, because I\u2019m not an expert, and I don\u2019t feel like I understand every nook and cranny of the subject. I certainly wouldn\u2019t volunteer myself to be the \u2018face\u2019 of law of attraction and \u2018defend\u2019 the concept to an auditorium full of skeptics.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">\u00a0But, then I realized not talking about it would be leaving out a huge chunk of my story, about how I created my life made to order. Consciously working with LOA has been, far and away, the primary ingredient in creating the life I have for myself.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">In the last year or so in particular, I have made amazing shifts. It dawned on me that I had a pretty good understanding and I was able to apply what I learned successfully. Lots of people have told me my posts on this subject really helped them, so I must be doing something right.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">\u00a0I know as time goes on, my faith will strengthen, and the part of my mind fighting it, will continue to wither away. I will aim for bigger and bolder things and will deal with the limiting beliefs as they surface.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">\u00a0Everything I write here is based on my own understanding and how I have applied what I have learned in my own life. It is certainly not the end-all-be-all on the particular topic at hand.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">My manifestations have been amazing, and I definitely still have my \u2018stuff\u2019 for sure; there are things I am still learning. So, in your own life, don\u2019t get discouraged and think you can\u2019t create awesomeness because you haven\u2019t mastered LOA or there are still things you don\u2019t understand. As you begin manifesting more and more, your confidence will grow, you\u2019ll feel better, and things will keep moving along quite nicely.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">So, onto the questions\u2026.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">\u00a0<strong><em>How important is it to release negative\/limiting beliefs in manifestation? Melody and Abraham Hicks seem to have differing opinions on this, Melody talks about the universe as E-Bay, and how our beliefs are like the search filters, if we don&#8217;t change them, we won&#8217;t ever get the search results we like. <\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><strong><em>However, Abraham had said that beliefs are just thoughts we keep thinking, so if we just think something else, they will be deactivated and there&#8217;s no need to dig deep into our childhood traumas and whatnot, because the only thing that matters\/exists is our vibration now. I was wondering what you opinion is on this?<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">\u00a0Essentially, our beliefs will determine the experiences that come into our lives, and in order to let all the awesome stuff in, we have to believe it is possible for us. If we hold a belief that something isn\u2019t possible, it can\u2019t ever come to us; we won\u2019t allow it in.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">So, you\u2019ll need a bit of background here\u2026.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">First off, \u2019Melody\u2019 refers to Melody Fletcher, the most awesome LOA teacher out there, hands down. Like seriously..she is amazing. The whole E-Bay thing was an <a href=\"http:\/\/www.deliberateblog.com\/2014\/04\/14\/dear-loa-what-if-my-inspired-action-leads-to-something-bad\/\">amazing post she wrote<\/a> comparing our manifestations and limiting beliefs to shopping for something on E-Bay. Essentially, the beliefs are the filters, which will determine the \u2018search results\u2019 which are all the different manifestations that are possible for us.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">So, some may take this to mean we must figure out all our limiting beliefs we hold deep inside lest we will never get what we want. We need to shine the light on them, bring them to the surface and kick their sorry asses to the curb.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">But, then according to Abraham Hicks, our beliefs are thoughts we keep on thinking, and when we change our thoughts, these crappy beliefs go away and are replaced by new ones. No need to dig around for anything. We just have to focus on all the crap actively running through our heads, all that negative self-talk that tells us we can\u2019t have what we want.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><strong><em>So, will we forever be doomed if we can\u2019t identify every limiting belief we hold?\u00a0<strong><em>NO, no you will not.<\/em><\/strong> <\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><strong><em>Will our efforts forever be sabotaged because of things buried so deep in our subconscious it is basically impossible to access them? No, no they will not.<br \/>\n<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Here is my take on the subject.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">First, I don\u2019t think Melody was trying to say we need to dig super deep and identify every limiting belief we hold inside; in fact, in other blog posts I distinctly remember her saying that this was not necessary.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">The way I see it, I don\u2019t know if \u2018regular people\u2019 would really be capable of doing that and becoming fully self-actualized. Unless, of course, they wanted to totally detach from the world, live in a cave, and meditate 18 hours a day. There are some people like that out there&#8211; you know those spiritual masters you hear about who have been known to manifest things right out of thin air.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">So, unless that level of manifestation is your ultimate goal, you will probably be able to create a pretty amazing life, and get all the things you want ,while still maintaining some sort of belief system that may not be 100 percent squeaky clean. Chances are, most of the beliefs you hold are perfectly fine and have been serving you pretty well.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><strong><em>This idea of limiting beliefs buried deep within obviously deals with the \u2018unknown\u2019 and when it comes to the \u2018unknown\u2019 we tend to go to a \u2018bad place\u2019 mentally. We view it with a lot of fear, and assume everything lurking there is bad, and waiting to mess things up for us. We imagine all these limiting beliefs hanging around, having a good laugh at our expense, and sabotaging our happiness at every turn.<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Sure, there is some stuff down there that you may never fully uncover. But, chances are, lots of these beliefs are not anything so big they will majorly screw with your life; and if they are, they will eventually come to the surface as you get more advanced in your LOA work and reach for bolder things. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">So long as we can get some insights into what might be standing in the way of things we are actively \u2018working\u2019 to attract, we are pretty good for now. So long as we are feeling good more than we are feeling badly, so long as our &#8216;new&#8217; beliefs gain traction and we feel their truth more than any &#8216;old&#8217; ones that may be lingering, we will see results.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">In my own experience, the limiting beliefs standing in the way of the things I wanted personally were pretty obvious, and like Abraham-Hicks said, if we work on shifting our thoughts and feelings, we can cultivate better beliefs that support our work with LOA, and improve our lives. These old beliefs will fall away.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">I think for most of us, it is these \u2018obvious\u2019 beliefs that are standing in the way. Some examples include \u2018life is meant to mostly suck with some good stuff peppered in occasionally\u2019, \u2018success can only come with hard work and struggle\u2019, feeling we are only capable of making a certain amount of money and working certain types of jobs, thinking we can\u2019t have a good relationship because all the previous ones have been bad, rich people are a-holes, and all the ones that stem from just generally having a limited view of ourselves based on our past experience, and other people\u2019s opinions about us.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">The ones that were not so obvious, usually were not that far down. They were easily revealed to me when I would examine what may have led to certain \u2018bad\u2019 manifestations or during visualizations.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">These are two great ways to discover things of which you may not fully be aware. When something happens that is \u2018unwanted\u2019 ask yourself how it makes you feel. Examining this will help you identify any beliefs you may hold that contributed to that outcome.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">I remember awhile back, I applied for a high-volume long-term freelance writing job that paid really well and was all health content. That is one of my ultimate assignments. I applied, sent in some samples but I guess I wasn\u2019t a good fit. When I asked myself how that made me feel, the first thing that came to mind was \u2018it is difficult to find clients offering high-volume, long-term work exclusively in the niches I like.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">This was not a belief that was top-of-mind, and I thought over and over again. But it was now obvious it was one I was holding when I dug a bit deeper.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Visualizing is a great tool to uncover limiting beliefs, as well as help shift them and get you in a good feeling space about whatever it is you want.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">For many people, visualizing is uncomfortable because it activates resistance\u2014all the crappy beliefs that tell you what you want is not possible. A lot of people kind of panic about this because we have been led to believe visualizing is manifesting and it\u2019s not. It is just one of the many tools to get you in a good feeling space\u2014feeling is what attracts. But, this discomfort is a good thing because it shows you where your blocks are. If you let yourself sit with it, you can get some amazing insights.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Visualizing can be a very powerful way to get into a good feeling space, so it is worth it to try and make it work for you. Play around with visualizations until you can get a picture that does make you feel good. This may mean being more general with the visualization and not adding in so many specific details, which often brings up the bad feelings. But, again, it is not necessary.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><strong><em>The fact that I really buy into LOA has been a major catalyst in letting certain beliefs go without me really addressing them specifically. They just don\u2019t have as much power.I feel good more of the time, and as we know, feeling good is where it&#8217;s at.<br \/>\n<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">As my belief in LOA strengthens, the \u2018bad\u2019 beliefs I have naturally become weaker as the &#8216;good&#8217; beliefs get easier and easier to feel.Better feeling thoughts are easier to think. Remember thoughts are manifestations and are indicative of where we are vibing in that moment.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">The more you can feel better, the more \u2018happy\u2019 thoughts you will have automatically without trying to will yourself into thinking them. The good thoughts have to come because that is the only thing you can attract when you are feeling good. And like Abraham said, consistently feeling good will naturally bring us what we want, and shift our beliefs automatically.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><strong><em>Remember, it is about predominant vibration. You don\u2019t have to feel 100 percent good every second to get results. I manifested lots of awesome things while experiencing some moments of extremely low vibes. <\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">You may not feel good every second, that\u2019s okay; you still have some beliefs getting in the way. You can still get what you want, it will just take a bit longer to get there. It\u2019s okay though. There is a lot of momentum behind the \u2018old\u2019 beliefs and thoughts. It can take some time to work through that. To just totally buy into all this on the deepest levels of your being automatically would be quite the feat.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">And now for question number two&#8230;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><strong><em>I know that there are more obstacles when we increase our momentum, because when we&#8217;re going 100 miles\/hour and we hit a tree, it will hurt more than going 5 miles\/hour. <\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><strong><em>However, when we are focused on the unwanted, aren&#8217;t there a bunch of crap happening as well? So how do we differentiate between the &#8220;good&#8221; obstacles, the ones that are indicative of forward moving momentum, from the ones that stem from negative momentum?\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">There is no difference between \u2018good\u2019 obstacles and the \u2018bad\u2019 obstacles. Everything happening to us is based on our vibration at the moment, which is the sum of all our beliefs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">It took me awhile to realize this, but we are <strong><em>always<\/em><\/strong> moving towards what we want; <strong><em>everything that happens is meant to help us get there in some way<\/em><\/strong>. Even the \u2018bad\u2019 things. There doesn\u2019t <strong><em>have<\/em><\/strong> to be any obstacles, but most of us will probably run into some.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">As we get deeper into our work, more \u2018issues\u2019 will rise to the surface that need to be worked through. There are certain beliefs of which we may not be fully aware that need to be brought to our attention to allow a specific manifestation in.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Without these \u2018obstacles\u2019 popping up into our experience, we would have no way of knowing where we stand in the moment.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Having an \u2018unwanted\u2019 experience does not mean you have strayed from the path, or what you want isn\u2019t possible. It simply showed up because it was a match to something you were feeling. It is there to help you figure out what needs to be tweaked.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Like I mentioned earlier, when something like this happens, examining the feelings it evoked will help us understand why we experienced what we did, and allows us to do whatever we need to do to work though that belief and correct course.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">And sometimes, things we perceive as &#8216;bad&#8217; are actually anything but, and happened because they will get us on the fast-track to getting whatever it is we want. If you don&#8217;t like your job, you may have visions of shifting your energy to line up with a &#8216;nicer&#8217; version of your boss, or being picked as the replacement for your co-worker who, rumor has it, is planning to leave the company. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Then out of nowhere you get laid off. Most of us would see losing our job as a &#8216;bad&#8217; manifestation; your desire for a better work experience did not involve actually leaving your current company. Like most of us, you were trying to figure out the &#8216;how&#8217; and had a handful of experiences you believed would be the catalyst.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">But, it was a really good thing because this situation will help you move towards an even better version of what you thought would make you happy, a version that might not have even entered your mind because of a limited view of what you thought was possible for your professionally.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Now that you have been fired, you were pushed into a space of really considering other options and thinking about what you really wanted. You now have a great opportunity to find a job you really, really like.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">So, the obstacles you face are your friends. They are there to help you figure out where you still have blocks; they help you refine exactly what it is you want. While we may not feel good in the moment they are popping up, they serve a positive purpose. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">You can always get what you want; you are always moving towards it. Don&#8217;t let the obstacles discourage you&#8230;they are not &#8216;punishments&#8217; from the Universe; it is not putting them there to teach you any sort of &#8216;lesson&#8217; in that negative way we typically think of this sentiment.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">So, I hope I helped clear up some of the confusion around these LOA issues.
