I really liked this question for a few reasons. First, I love writing about LOA and sharing my insights. As an enthusiastic student of this concept for the last few years, I have made amazing changes in my life, and I hope sharing my experience and ‘take’ on things will help others bring more awesomeness into their own lives.

Second, this is an issue that causes quite a bit of angst because of its strong connection with money, especially if you are currently without any employment. A willingness to give this LOA thing a whirl can considerably lessen the anxiety, fear, frustration and other yucky stuff that comes up when job hunting. We don’t need to suffer the way we typically do.

And third, as someone who has firsthand experience with finding myself without work, and the income to match virtually overnight, to getting the exact type of work I wanted, and making more money than I ever had, courtesy of a little faith in LOA, I feel I can offer some helpful advice here.

So, onto the little nuggets of wisdom that can help you attract the job you want and need.

Remember to Think Creatively and Not Competitively

There is enough to go around in this wonderful universe of ours—we can create whatever it is we want, so long as we truly believe we can have it, and we are open to receiving it. Things line up in the most amazing of ways.

It can hard to think this way when it comes to a job. We hear about the bad economy, and all these other doom and gloom stories, and think we will be completely screwed. We think of all the other people also looking for a job, and this makes us feel all sorts of bad. We worry we are not good enough, and we will not be a desirable candidate. We think of all the people who have more experience, and education than we do, and conclude we will never be the first choice.

You must change this way of thinking immediately; know there is a job out there for you, and you will somehow line up with it. Rid yourself of the idea that you are in competition with other people; just focus on you and your energy—don’t worry about everyone else.

My work situation completely turned around courtesy of landing three different high-volume freelance writing jobs in the same week. They all came from a job board on a very popular site, where initial contacts from posters often thank you for your interest in applying, and that they will get back to you shortly, after going through the flood of applications.

Maybe I was the best of dozens, or maybe these postings were the rare ones that got little response. Guess what? It doesn’t matter. I was aligned, and the Universe delivered.

Define Your Ideal Job

To get LOA working in your favor, it is crucial you clearly define what it is you want in a job; note, knowing what you don’t want is not the same thing. Sure, by defining what we don’t want, what we do is implied. But, my sweets, LOA is all about energy, and from an energetic perspective, focusing on the crap will just bring you more crap.

So, take the time to give some serious thought to what you actually do want in a job. Don’t censor yourself based on what you think is ‘realistic’ or possible based on your current circumstances. Just let it all out. The more specific you can get, the better. That magical force that somehow lines us up with the stuff we want, loves and needs clarity. Muddy desires will get muddy results.

If it makes you feel good to visualize yourself in this job, do it as much as you can because anything that makes you feel good will help you move towards your desire more quickly. But, if visualizing makes you feel yucky, don’t do it; pay attention to what comes up because this will help you identify your limiting beliefs surrounding your job search.

Focusing on what you want is not actually necessary to get it, so don’t worry about it. In fact, you could never think about the job again, and you would still get it. This is another tenet of LOA that can be hard to wrap our heads around, but it’s the truth. Don’t worry, the Universe won’t forget what you want.

Know Your Puny Brain Can’t Possibly Figure Out the Infinite Ways You Can Line Up a Job

One of the biggest stumbling blocks when working with LOA, no matter what it is you want to attract, is that tendency of ours to try and control things; to try and figure out ‘how’ it is we will get what we want. We really can’t help it I guess. It’s just a place our mind naturally wanders whenever a desire gets sparked within.

But, it can really put a damper on your whole search for a job. Know why? Because we can’t possibly figure out all the different ways that job can come to us. We can think of maybe like three ways, and that’s it.

You may meet a random person in a coffee shop, and get to talking about your job search, and he gives you a great lead; you may run into a former co-worker you haven’t seen in years, and he hooks you up with an interview because he works in the HR department of his new company. You may find yourself in some sort of encounter that steers you in a completely different career path, and you end up with a job you never would have thought of previously.

I lined up my first writing job by following the urge to visit a site I never ever visited before—Backpage, which is like Craigslist—and the posting happened to be there. I applied, not thinking much of it, but I got picked, and so began my freelance writing.

I have a great example that will really drive home my point—though it doesn’t have to do with a job, it is a shining example of our inability to figure out ‘how.’ A few years ago, I saw my account balance in my checking went up a couple of hundred dollars, which was quite sweet as I was a bit short on cash at the time.

I checked my statement to see what was up, and I saw a deposit from a bank in Lima, Peru. I had traveled there a few months previously, and the only thing I can think of is they deducted a withdrawal twice and were now replacing the money. Who knows? All I can say is, if I had a 1000 guesses, that scenario never would have showed up on the list.

So, just concern yourself with the ‘what’, which is the job in this case, and leave the how to the wonderful Universe; the how is none of your business as I have read many times before, and I completely agree.

How Would Getting the Job Make You Feel? How Can You Feel that Way NOW?

LOA is all about how we feel, and as much as your ego is going to fight you on this one, you need to find a way to feel good now, even in the absence of the job. No matter what it is we want, we want it because of the feeling it would give us.

So, what sorts of feelings do you think having this job would produce for you? How can you feel those feelings now? For example, if you are after a sense of purpose and fulfillment, what could you do now that would make you feel that way? Maybe something like volunteering. If you have kids, try to look past the tedium you may feel about the daily tasks of caring for them, and tune into how you are providing care for another human being who is wholly dependent on you.

If you already have a job, but just want a different one, how could you cultivate those feelings you believe you would get in a different one? It can be done, you just have to be willing to look at things in a more positive light.

If you want a sense of satisfaction, for example, you can feel that now, even if you don’t think the work you are doing is all that important—focus on the fact that your customers or clients got what they needed from you, whether it was an answer to a question or a fulfilled purchase order. Do your job well, even if you don’t like it, and take pride in that.

By focusing on the feelings, you will attract situations that will give you these same feelings, and there is a good chance you can line up a job that is even better than the one you may be imagining. For various reasons, we often sell ourselves short when it comes to manifesting; our limiting beliefs, past experiences,etc..stunt our imagination and limit what we think is possible for us.

Know How You Feel is More Important than Any Action You Take

This can be a tricky one that I still grapple with sometimes. On one hand, you don’t have to do much of anything to line yourself up with a job; on the other hand, you will have to do some stuff to get the ball rolling, mainly for your own emotional benefit. So, by all means, throw your resume on Careerbuilder; apply to jobs you find online; reach out to anyone who may have some leads for you.

The key is how you feel. If you feel good about the process, that job will come to you—maybe through one of these channels or maybe in a completely unexpected way. Pay attention to any intuitive pulls to do things in relation to your search, and do them–this is ‘inspired action,’ and usually helps us move towards our desire with minimal effort.

You don’t need to spend 12 hours a day searching for a job, or send out your resume to 150 employers, all the while feeling like complete garbage. Yeah, you can get a job this way too, but wouldn’t you prefer the less painful way?

When I was looking for work during that dry spell when I was left completely without income, I spent more of my time working on myself and my mindset than I did looking for work. And it was hard because that logical part of my mind told me I was being ‘lazy’ and that I should be ‘doing’ more. But the ‘doing’ usually made me feel badly, and I knew it was counterproductive.

So, I stuck it out because my ‘higher’ self, who is oh-so-wise, knew I was going about this job search in the right way. And, when that work finally came in the way it did, I was sure glad I gave ‘logical’ Kelli the necessary beat downs.

This idea is one of the hardest to grasp when it comes to LOA because it completely goes against ideas that have been very deeply ingrained into us. The idea that we can get something by doing ‘nothing,’ just doesn’t seem right. But, technically, you are not doing ‘nothing.’ You are doing ‘something’ but it is in the realm of your mind, not action.

And while we are on the subject of feelings, don’t panic if you don’t feel good every second; it is not absolutely necessary—just try to feel good more than you feel not-so-good.

Don’t Get Attached

In our desire to control things, and figure out ‘how’ it is very easy to get attached to certain circumstances, and conclude this is the way that we will get this job. In your efforts to line up a job, don’t get attached to certain channels, like job websites or your networking efforts.

Take any actions you think may help, but then release on them. If a contact says she may have the perfect job for you, don’t get too excited—wait and see what happens. If you line up an interview, don’t pin all your hopes on it.

When we start consciously working with LOA and things start changing, it is easy to get super attached to situations that arise because since they happened after we started doing this work, we naturally think this is the manifestation.

And then when it doesn’t work out, for whatever reason, we get consumed with disappointment, and conclude this is all a load of crap; we worry we won’t get what we want, and we go into panic mode.

You will find what you are looking for..just be willing to give up some control, and remember….you can’t possibly figure it out.

So, this is my two cents on using LOA for employment purposes..hope you found it helpful.
