{"id":5192,"date":"2016-07-18T03:40:18","date_gmt":"2016-07-18T07:40:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.livelifemadetoorder.com\/blog\/blog\/?p=5192"},"modified":"2021-07-31T07:55:01","modified_gmt":"2021-07-31T07:55:01","slug":"law-attraction-getting-energetic-slump","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.livelifemadetoorder.com\/blog\/law-attraction-getting-energetic-slump\/","title":{"rendered":"Law of Attraction: Getting Out of an \u2018Energetic Slump\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>When we begin studying a concept such as the law of attraction, our struggles in &#8216;feeling good&#8217; can quickly consume us as we worry we&#8217;re delaying a better reality. We know the importance of having a &#8216;higher vibration&#8217; but may feel a bit stuck in figuring out how to get there. Today&#8217;s post is courtesy of a comment left on the blog about dealing with this &#8216;energetic slump.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p><em>Such a great post from you both and exactly what I needed to hear to help get me back on track(She is referring to my <a href=\"https:\/\/www.livelifemadetoorder.com\/blog\/blog\/law-attraction-surrender-manifesting\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">recent podcast <\/a>about surrender). Surrendering has definitely helped me before and I fully believe in it, but lately I\u2019ve been having trouble surrendering, and having more \u201cfun\u201d as you guys mentioned. If I have a job that sucks the energy out of me (I work overnight, and sleep during the day, so Its hard to have a life) how can I work on having more \u201cfun\u201d and surrendering what I want and trusting that it will come? My job makes it hard to plan things, or even see some of my friends and family\/meet new people, in addition to that I don\u2019t ever have the feeling or drive that I should start following my passions, so energetically I feel in a slump. Do you have advice on getting back on track in that space of feeling good, where I can then surrender to getting my \u201cstuff\u201d?<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Natalie<\/em><\/p>\n<h4>Embracing The Low Moments<\/h4>\n<p>Naturally we get into a teaching such as the law of attraction, and personal development in general, because we want to improve our lives. We don\u2019t like feeling badly, understandably. We want to find a way to feel better, to make positive change, to manifest things we think would enhance our life and contribute to our happiness and well-being.<\/p>\n<p>And as such, we don\u2019t have much of a tolerance for these lower moments. The confusion and lack of direction is less than palatable. That we can\u2019t \u2018figure out\u2019 how to fix things and get moving in the right direction doesn\u2019t sit very well.<\/p>\n<p>And this just adds a bunch of extra layers of \u2018ick\u2019 to the negative emotions we are experiencing, thus intensifying how badly we feel.<\/p>\n<p>And our resistance to feeling badly intensifies right along with it, and that makes us feel even worse. We know our energy is what creates our reality, and that we can\u2019t seem to shift out of a lower vibe, makes us even more despondent that we won\u2019t get what we want.<\/p>\n<p>Yes, we do want to feel happier; happiness is our natural state and trying to cultivate more of it in our life is certainly a worthwhile use of our time. But we can\u2019t forget the value inherent in our sadness, in our confusion, and all that other yucky stuff we would rather not deal with.<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019re not spiritual masters and aren\u2019t so keen to embrace all this&#8211;I totally get that, <em>believe me<\/em> I do. We just want to feel better. We just want to figure it out. We just want our stuff. Again, <em>totally<\/em> get that. I\u2019m a fellow human.<\/p>\n<p>But just imagine for a moment how differently you would experience your experience if there was less resistance to it, less of a push to \u2018get rid\u2019 of it? Imagine how much easier it would be to deal with knowing you are being presented with a tremendous opportunity for healing and for clarity?<\/p>\n<p>Because as I always like to remind you guys&#8211;the reason you feel badly isn\u2019t because you don\u2019t have certain things, it is because the absence of these things is triggering something <em>already within you<\/em> that feels badly.<\/p>\n<p>Certain meaning is being assigned to the lack of what you want, to the current state of your life&#8211;and this meaning is usually chock-full of beliefs that feel terribly, views of yourself that feel terribly.<\/p>\n<p>When we can be honest about how we feel, about what we believe, about what we think our life says about us now, and all that other stuff, that is where the true energetic shifts come. That is where we are truly opening the doors to <em>genuinely<\/em> feeling better.<\/p>\n<p>This isn\u2019t pleasant, and it\u2019s probably not something you can power through in a weekend. But when you see the value in it, it doesn\u2019t bother you as much if it takes a bit to get through it.<\/p>\n<p>You may envision yourself being drenched in misery 24\/7 but I can assure you that this won&#8217;t be the case. You&#8217;ll have plenty of moments when you feel just fine, maybe even really good.<\/p>\n<p>I know for the most part, this isn\u2019t the answer we want to hear. We just want to know how to \u2018get happy.\u2019 And while technically we can just decide we will, we usually have a lot of energies that are too powerful just to dismiss in this manner.<\/p>\n<p>We might try and we might get some temporary relief, but they tend to rear their head again because they really aren\u2019t being dealt with.<\/p>\n<p>Once you start doing this sort of work, letting yourself feel your feelings, admitting your limiting beliefs and the like, takes on a <em>whole new meaning<\/em>; you are doing it with a whole new energy.<\/p>\n<p>You aren\u2019t just feeling badly with a \u2018woe is me\u2019 sort of attitude; you aren\u2019t totally succumbing to victim mode.<\/p>\n<p>Sure, there may be a little bit of that here and there, especially at first&#8211;happens to the best of us. But by and large, you are going into this space with the intention to purge and heal, to make room for something better.<\/p>\n<p>Be gentle with yourself during this time. You may be a bit &#8216;lazier.&#8217; Maybe you&#8217;ll take more naps. You&#8217;ll have more moments of vegging out in front of the TV. It&#8217;s all good. Just remember the bigger picture and what you&#8217;re allowing yourself to do during this time.<\/p>\n<p>Make peace with the fact you have some clearing to do, some work to do. That will make it a lot easier.<\/p>\n<h4>Dumping the Excuses and Prioritizing Your Energy Management<\/h4>\n<p>Our mind is really good at giving us reasons why we are in the situation we are in and why we can\u2019t change it. There was a lot of that going on in the question asked of me. And this isn\u2019t to chide awesome question-asker. We are all guilty of doing this.<\/p>\n<p>I couldn\u2019t fully address the issue without touching on this point, however.<\/p>\n<p>Does the nature of her work pose certain challenges? Sure. Opposite schedules can make it harder to get together with people; maybe it is harder to plan things if you have an unpredictable schedule or you are on call,etc\u2026<\/p>\n<p>But there is always a way. Not sure if she likes her job or not, but maybe if her job poses that many problems, a new job may be something on which to focus her manifesting efforts. Maybe the schedule can be changed.<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps making these plans and doing more fun stuff isn\u2019t as difficult as they seem but it is due to a lack of effort or interest. This is usually a culprit when we may not be feeling our greatest&#8211;we may feel lonely or bored, or whatever else, but we really don\u2019t want to do much or be around people.<\/p>\n<p>Without having talked directly with her, I can\u2019t know obviously. I am just giving some examples of how we often claim certain things can\u2019t be done or it isn\u2019t in our control, it isn\u2019t our fault,etc&#8230;but that isn\u2019t usually the case.<\/p>\n<p>So if you are in a position where you are feeling like you can\u2019t do any of the things you would want, or you think would make you feel better, be willing to do an honest assessment of the situation.<\/p>\n<p>In her case, maybe putting together a roaring social life isn\u2019t feasible at this current juncture. So I would suggest she consider what else she can do to start feeling better.<\/p>\n<p>It might not be possible to make certain changes in our lives <em>right this second<\/em>, and it becomes doubly important to focus on what we <em>can<\/em> do in the immediate moment.<\/p>\n<p>Maybe it is exercising more. Maybe it is engaging in a hobby. Maybe it is reading some personal development books that are particularly appealing at this moment. Maybe it is putting aside just a few minutes each day to meditate.<\/p>\n<p>It ultimately comes down to resonance. One of the keys to shifting energy in a meaningful way is <em>consistent<\/em> engagement with it. It has to be a priority. And don\u2019t feel pressure to totally change your being and routine drastically right this second&#8211;even a little bit can go a long way.<\/p>\n<p>You are not required to devote hours and hours a day to your personal growth,, but you do want to make it something that is a fairly regular part of your life.<\/p>\n<p>There will be a lot of resistance; your mind wants to keep you feeling stuck and unhappy.<\/p>\n<p>While you don\u2019t want to force yourself to engage when you are totally not feeling it, often times, it might feel uncomfortable, and you kind of have to push yourself.<\/p>\n<p>Only you can know when to leave it be, and when to give yourself that nudge, even if you generally don\u2019t feel like it, because ultimately you know you will feel better if you take that jog, say those affirmations or do the exercises from that program or book.<\/p>\n<h4>Work on Feeling Better for the Sake of Feeling Better<\/h4>\n<p>Let\u2019s be honest for a moment&#8211;most of our efforts at \u2018feeling good\u2019 are aimed at getting the things we want to manifest. Totally understandable. Nothing wrong with wanting whatever we want and working on cultivating an energy that supports those sorts of things showing up for us.<\/p>\n<p>But it can also be really problematic because the good vibes tend not to last very long if our outer reality isn\u2019t changing as fast or as dramatically as we want it to; if our mind isn\u2019t getting the specific things it wants, if things aren\u2019t turning out the way it envisioned. The second something happens we deem \u2018bad\u2019 we become deflated.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s kind of like we really don\u2019t care if we\u2019re happy, rather we just care about getting what we want and feeling better is some sort of \u2018chore\u2019 we must endure to get the goods.<\/p>\n<p>We get mad at the Universe that we don\u2019t seem to be getting \u2018rewarded\u2019 for efforts. Our mind is kind of like \u2018fuck this feeling good shit,\u2019 it doesn\u2019t seem to be \u2018working.\u2019 So what\u2019s the point?<\/p>\n<p>And we easily slip back into a lower energy state, only this time it usually feels even more intense than it did before because we are very resistant to it, we feel like we \u2018failed\u2019 at our efforts to manifest and all that other wonderful stuff.<\/p>\n<p>Again, we want stuff. It\u2019s cool to want stuff. Most of us aren\u2019t going to vibe with the ascetic lifestyle, wanting absolutely nothing. We want money. We want relationships. We want a fulfilling career. We want to live a life of purpose. We probably want some material things too like a nice house, cool clothes and so forth.<\/p>\n<p>So our efforts at feeling better, and raising our vibration, may not always be coming from a pure-as-a-freshly-fallen-snow-space. There may always be a hint of an \u2018ulterior motive\u2019 if you will.<\/p>\n<p>But when that is always the top-of-mind driver, and we are hyper-focused on what we don\u2019t have and what we don\u2019t like in our life, and we are \u2018trying\u2019 so hard to raise our vibration so different stuff can show up, we are setting ourselves up for a lot of suffering.<\/p>\n<p>I know it might not seem possible to just feel good for the sake of feeling good, without always being focused on what you want. I know there is that part of your mind that fears if you don\u2019t \u2018keep your eye on the prize,\u2019 the Universe will think you must not want those things anymore and won\u2019t bring them to you.<\/p>\n<p>But it really is possible. It is just a bit of a process though.<\/p>\n<p>On one hand the idea of not \u2018caring\u2019 about manifesting certain things probably feels like a big old relief; but on the other hand, it\u2019s scary because somehow we have linked the \u2018caring\u2019 with being a necessary part of the manifesting process. It\u2019s really not though.<\/p>\n<p>If we can remove the \u2018trying\u2019 to manifest out of the equation to at least some degree, and we just focus on feeling better just for the sake of feeling better&#8211;a crazy concept I know&#8211;you would be amazed at how quickly your spirits can start lifting.<\/p>\n<p>And in this higher vibration, you\u2019ll manifest all sorts of things, including a renewed drive to focus on your passions, clarity, solutions to problems and other great stuff. You\u2019ll make the pleasant discovery that you can actually start feeling better at any moment, regardless of your current circumstances and even if certain manifestations have yet to make their way into your reality.<\/p>\n<h4>Your Turn<\/h4>\n<p>What did you think of the post?
